“Pure luxury. 5 star ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

From the moment you enter the door you are in pure luxury. Historical building with exquisite furnishings. The rooms and suites are lush and extremely comfortable. Heavenly beds. Magnificent views from the rooms. On two cross roads of the cable cars. And close to Union Square for shopping. Definitely worth it.

This hotel is beautifully located at the top of Nob Hill. You can walk to restaurants, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square and even AT&T Park (okay, we stopped at an Irish Pub on the way, which broke up the walk). The walk back to the Fairmont can be a bit of a challenge - those hills are steep, but you can always grab a taxi, uber or, if you time it right, a cable car which stops right next to the hotel.

The lobby is extraordinary. You really feel like you've stepped into "fancy town." We popped into the Ritz and Mark Hopkins, which are both close by, and their lobbies do not compare. We had a suite with a nice little balcony and a great view. The room was good, with a giant closet and a small bathroom. The amenities were nice, but not over the top and the room felt just a bit dated - this is clearly a very well maintained, but older hotel.

The Fairmont. What could go wrong here? Nothing! This place is absolutely amazing. Breathtaking lobby and unsurpassed elegance. Stayed in the Singapore Suite. It has an amazing covered veranda with views of the city that are just amazing. Open the french doors and listen to the clank clank of the trolley cars in the distance . The room is plush and our stay here was terrific. Didn't want to leave . If you leave your heart in San Francisco....well this is the place!

This beautiful property is a walk back in time to an era of opulent hotels. The decor, the service, the rooms, the beds, are all luxurious and comfortable. I stayed for a week with my husband in January, a belated honeymoon trip after we got caught in a "hurricane" at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was worth the wait to come here for a full week and enjoy this hotel. We purposely built in time to lounge in our room with 12 foot ceilings and views of the Bay. Late afternoon we were greeted with hors d' oeuvres and a cold beverage at our room door compliments if the house. The breakfast buffet in the main dining room was a festival of local fruit, baked goods and waffles and omelet stations. Room service was excellent, and the Tiki bar in the lower level a step back to 50's decadence. Grab a book and lounge in the lobby, or stroll the rooftop herb garden and see the hives where they make the house honey. The doormen will help you get to where ever you want to go in the city and environs with directions and advice on both public and private mode of transportation, and the concierge was helpful with tours and friendly with restaurant advice. The coffee bar on the lower level was great for late breakfasts and snacks. We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for the old original section of the hotel.

Green Features: Extremely environmentally conscious in its policies, and well posted throughout.

Visited the Fairmont Hotel on Vacation. It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. It was very classy and very luxurious. The service was excellent. A very pleasant experience from start to finish. It is not a cheap hotel; nor should one expect it to be. And Yes! they do have the Terry cloth bathrobes with the Fairmont name embroidered on them.

Room Tip: I would get a room, if you can afford it, that has the bay view. All the rooms are excellent though.

When should an hotel lobby bar close? When the bartender has done his X and Z till readings? That's how it was here. This Job'sworth is damaging the hotel's reputation and finances! Either give him a proper remit in his contract or remove him.
Breakfast in an appointed room was OK except for the non-existent staff...and when they appeared they were poor. NOT a 5* service.

Room Tip: An outward view is preferred
