I was on a business trip to SF for 3 days. Meeting rooms are weel structured, food service was great. Checkin and checkout were perfect and the best part: location. Near to Union Square and main shopping venues. At the top of the hill come prepared to go up and down a lot of times (that's SF). Check the Christimas decoration: wonderful.

Just Great. Loved It. LOVED IT.

Lovely Staff. Fantastic Room Service. Beautiful Room. Clean Hotel in every way. Fantastic Location. Right near a stop for the famed cable car:) So much fun. And there is a Tiki Room Restaurant in the Lower Level with a FLOATING BOAT!!!

And Nob Hill the neighborhood the hotel is in is lovely.

Dope all around.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "tower" I believe.

Instead of stating the obvious about how grand the hotel is or how great the service is, I will talk about the reality and the things that matter. First, the location: I love it because it's not in the heart of union square, you can easily walk there but it is a tough walk back from there on foot, if your out of shape or older the walk is very tough. You can easily walk to china town, north beach, union square, again the walk back is tough. The rooms: well you get what you pay for, if you want a great view pay for it, otherwise you will not have what you expect. Food and drink: expensive, but your staying at a Fairmont, what do you expect. As a hotel in one of the greatest cities in the world, I couldn't ask for more. If your going to stay there, enjoy it, don't worry about the little things, at the end of the day you are staying in an excellent hotel, with excellent service, and a grandeur to match.

The hotel is lovely and great location. We were there from 12/23 until 12/25/14 and couldn't wait to get out of there. Even my 7 year old noticed the rudeness of everyone working there. I would say the place is run like a Motel 6 but that would be insulting that chain. First, we arrived starving at 4 pm to find an hour wait at the lunch room. The doorman sent us walking to a deli we never found. We returned at 5 pm where 2 of 4 burgers from room service were charred and inedible. Next day discovered a coffee shop next to the garage.
No water provided and charged $14/day for Internet in a $585/night hotel? Ridiculous. Room service said to push the cart outside when finished...how lovely for those guests passing by. The head concierge Tom said Hop and Stop tour was open on Christmas (Wrong) glad we went the day before. He never wd answer anything about anything other than the companies he was pushing and gave me several cards all with his name for a discount. The lady concierge on Christmas day was vague as to China town being open and directions to Lombard streets. Housekeeping left used soap in the shower and didn't replenish shampoo or sugar for the two coffees provided. Mini bar charged for four items bc item was taken out and that triggers charge even though it's returned. The man at the entrance of the breakfast/lunchroom was outright rude to various patrons as we waited to be told there was an hour wait. I would sleep in the park before I would return to this hotel. Please avoid until management can get their act together. I will say both desk clerks I spoke with were polite and competent....maybe they should be managers.

Room Tip: The room was fine, it was the service that was third world quality.

Green Features: None that I could see. Maybe that's why they don't change out soap or provide bottled or any kind of water.

This hotel is in a wonderful location . The rooms are fantastic , they are a good size with a great bathroom . The hotel is let down hugely by it's waiting staff , and the front desk . William the door man is great . I booked this hotel for my family for Xmas . Travelled from the UK. The hotel has a large Christmas tree and a gingerbread house which has attracted many locals . The problem is it has made the lobby very busy for the people staying at the hotel . Went down for breakfast this morning , was told there was a 30 minute wait , then when we were given a table another hour for the breakfast menu . The buffet was 32 dollars as that was the option but really was not worth it.

The issues are that if the hotel takes reservations for breakfast from people NOT staying at he hotel it is not going to cope . This means the hotel residents get a poor service and then write poor reviews .

Would I stay again at this hotel NO I wouldn't . Take a look at the place hotel in Monterey for a great hotel .

Very rude and unacceptable customer service. valet was so rude when we parked our car. Had a reservation for 12 for Christmas Eve morning brunch. It was made a month ago. They didn't have the reservation and made absolutely no attempt to work with our party. Never apologized. Way too arrogant on any level. Gingerbread house is awesome and gal patching it was very nice. We went to Ritz - fabulous breakfast and service. We will be going there from now on This year on... Don't bother staying here.
