“Great Location near Fisherman's Wharf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We stayed one night here and loved the location. We walked to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 93. There are good restaurants in the neighborhood and a convenient Trader Joe's store. We used the hotel parking because we could come and go for the one price of $60 and keep the car there till 6 pm. Other parking lots you would have to pay each time.

Room Tip: We were in an older wing on the 1st floor, our room was small but very clean and nice. It was quiet...

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf. The wharf has so many different and unique dining options it really is in a league of its own. One of our favorite local spots is Darren's Cafe which is 2 short blocks away. We hope you will consider us for any future visits to San Francisco.

We were in San Francisco for our ten year anniversary trip! On our first night, we found this hotel at a great rate through an app on my phone. We weren't disappointed!

The lobby was bright and open! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We loved the color choices and design of the entire hotel! We got coffee a couple of times at the cafe in the lobby. It was pretty good and wasn't terribly overpriced!

The rooms were bright, airy, and appeared to have been recently renovated! The decor was a mixture of nautical meets modern. It was great and not overdone! Hot water and water pressure was never a problem. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable! There was a one cup coffeemaker in the room, and the Starbucks coffee was a welcome change from the usual "cheap" hotel room coffee!

The real GEM of this entire place is the outside area in front of the hotel! The seating areas and fire pits were much appreciated during the chilly evening hours. It is truly a very well thought out place to kick back and relax after a long day of walking!

We were extremely pleased with our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return! I'm not sure what all of the bad/below average reviews are about. We travel VERY frequently and were pleasantly surprised with this hotel!

Sounds like you had an amazing anniversary trip and we are very happy we could be part of it. Our public areas are a great venue to unwind at, especially our fire pits which offer some much needed warmth and comfort after a long day of exploring the city. Our staff takes great pride in taking care of all our guests and recommending a plethora of ways to enjoy the city. We are looking forward to having you back for any future visits to San Francisco.

The Sheraton at Fisherman's Wharf is a great location. I travelled alone and I always felt safe walking to and from the Pier. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom is small, but clean and updated. My room was on the 2nd floor and there was an outside patio that faced the pool. The room was quiet, however, the heat/ac was an older unit, but it was sufficient. The staff in the restaurant were not especially accommodating. Service was fair and the menu was limited. The only breakfast choice was a buffet which was fair, no fresh egg/omelet service. The front desk and concierge were very helpful and pleasant. I would stay here again because of the location.

stayed for a week here. check in was easy, staff were friendly and accommodating.

we were on the 2nd floor right near the elevator, this was a noisy room in the evenings and mornings, the hotel has put a sign out bear the elevator asking people to keep the boise down, but it is not adhered too. great view of the pool, but also noisy until it closes at 10pm. can hear the people above or next door to us, but they were pretty quiet so it wasn't a problem.

the room itself was nice. clean, nice linens and lounges. bathroom was an updated, old bathroom. the air con/heater was noisy and old but the room was well insulated and we didn't need to use it. good tv with a wide choice of channels.

housekeeping are good. concierge and doormen were helpful and knowledgeable.

the hotel is well placed bear lots of tourist attractions with plenty of restaurant choices within easy walking distance, felt safe the whole time, evening walking at night time.

there is a laundromat 3 blocks down and a tram stop just up the road. public transport is easy to find and use, easy to access other parts of town (haight, mission, marina and the city)

would recommend hiring a go car and touring around town and riding a bike (electric!!) around the wharf/pier and over the Golden Gate Bridge.

would stay again as it was good. but would probably choose somewhere near haight!

We always appreciate hearing that you enjoyed your stay at Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf, especially when it involves our wonderful staff. We love it when our guests are able to thoroughly enjoy our beautiful city. One of our favorite activities to recommend is a bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge with lunch in Sausalito. Then one can take the ferry back to the city and really experience the city from all different perspectives. Thanks again for your kind words about your experience and our staff.

When visiting SF I like to stay near Fisherman"s Warf. It is a tourist area, but the clean air and near the water is very appealing. Plus you can get a pass to use city transportation. I enjoy taking the cable cars into the downtown or the F transit towards the Embarcadero.

The Sheraton fits the bill as far as location. The service was average. My issues are with the amenities. For example the door to our room was to about 1/4" too small all the way around, which meant the hallway light continued to shine into the room at night.

The pillow cover had a stain which was not appealing.

The TV worked to an extent. Several channels such as Showtime time did not work. Half of the channels that did work had poor reception. The other half worked fine. We ordered a movie, but it did not work. We had to ask that the charges be roomed from out bill. We called the desk on the first night and someone came up to look at the problems. He said that it was not the TV but the signal being received to the building. At checkout we were advised it was an ongoing problem.

To some, this may appear to minor complaints, but I think these issues tend to reveal the priority level of customer care.

Some other things I might point out that may influence your decision.

Room service charges $5.00 to delivery your meal.

Wifi although available for free in the lobby charges $13.00 for 24 hrs in your room.

In room movie charges range from 16.00 to 20.00

We will be returning to SF, but not likely to book a room at the Sheraton.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf. We are glad you enjoyed our ideal location in the heart of the wharf. We apologize that you experienced issues with light shining into the room as well as the T.V. functioning properly. The guest experience is our number one priority at the Sheraton and we have had our engineering department address this issues already. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Overall it was a great visit because the location is excellent and the rooms were spacious and clean. I've stayed in much nicer 4 star hotels so I think this one belongs more in the 3.5 star category. We won this for a great price bidding on priceline so we were very happy but I would never pay full price for this hotel.

The lobby had a nice little cafe where we got lattes and panini's for breakfast. It was a short walk to the wharf.

We parked two blocks away to save money in this garage that only charged $25 for 24 hours.

Only negative was the creaking noises from the room above us every time they walked....just bring some earplugs to sleep and you'll be fine.

I booked this last minute through hotwire for a great rate. But, it's a push to say that it's a 4 star hotel (as advertised on hotwire).

The bad: Noisy, small, outdated technology. We were given a room on the corner facing the bus terminal and busy street - probably one of the noisiest rooms I've had in years. The lobby is quite modern and nice, they clearly invested some money there. Not so much in the rooms that are small and a little dated looking. We needed a crib in the room and the only place it would even fit was between the wall and the bed - so that left us crawling off of the end of the bed to get out. The heating/cooling was an old style motel push button heater - no automated thermostat, just on or off by push button. Wireless internet access for free is only available in the lobby.

When I requested an interior (quieter) room for a second night, I was told (around 11am) we would have to completely pack up and leave everything with the bellman, check out then come check back in later in the day. I pushed to see if they could find a room to move to directly, and they were supposed to call me back - an hour later we just gave up and checked out to stay somewhere else that second night.

The good: the location is terrific for fisherman's wharf. The bed and linens were comfortable too. Also, the lobby and outside seating area with fire pits was really nice and modern. I didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't comment on the food quality.

What to know before you go: Ask for a quiet room - hopefully they can find something facing the parking garage to minimize the noise factor. Parking is $45 per 24 hour period; high speed internet is available for a fee in the rooms (no big deal, but I didn't expect an extra fee from the hotwire description)

Room Tip: Ask for an interior quiet room if you don't want to hear traffic noise or buses going in and out...
