“good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

stayed for a week here. check in was easy, staff were friendly and accommodating.

we were on the 2nd floor right near the elevator, this was a noisy room in the evenings and mornings, the hotel has put a sign out bear the elevator asking people to keep the boise down, but it is not adhered too. great view of the pool, but also noisy until it closes at 10pm. can hear the people above or next door to us, but they were pretty quiet so it wasn't a problem.

the room itself was nice. clean, nice linens and lounges. bathroom was an updated, old bathroom. the air con/heater was noisy and old but the room was well insulated and we didn't need to use it. good tv with a wide choice of channels.

housekeeping are good. concierge and doormen were helpful and knowledgeable.

the hotel is well placed bear lots of tourist attractions with plenty of restaurant choices within easy walking distance, felt safe the whole time, evening walking at night time.

there is a laundromat 3 blocks down and a tram stop just up the road. public transport is easy to find and use, easy to access other parts of town (haight, mission, marina and the city)

would recommend hiring a go car and touring around town and riding a bike (electric!!) around the wharf/pier and over the Golden Gate Bridge.

would stay again as it was good. but would probably choose somewhere near haight!

We always appreciate hearing that you enjoyed your stay at Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf, especially when it involves our wonderful staff. We love it when our guests are able to thoroughly enjoy our beautiful city. One of our favorite activities to recommend is a bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge with lunch in Sausalito. Then one can take the ferry back to the city and really experience the city from all different perspectives. Thanks again for your kind words about your experience and our staff.

When visiting SF I like to stay near Fisherman"s Warf. It is a tourist area, but the clean air and near the water is very appealing. Plus you can get a pass to use city transportation. I enjoy taking the cable cars into the downtown or the F transit towards the Embarcadero.

The Sheraton fits the bill as far as location. The service was average. My issues are with the amenities. For example the door to our room was to about 1/4" too small all the way around, which meant the hallway light continued to shine into the room at night.

The pillow cover had a stain which was not appealing.

The TV worked to an extent. Several channels such as Showtime time did not work. Half of the channels that did work had poor reception. The other half worked fine. We ordered a movie, but it did not work. We had to ask that the charges be roomed from out bill. We called the desk on the first night and someone came up to look at the problems. He said that it was not the TV but the signal being received to the building. At checkout we were advised it was an ongoing problem.

To some, this may appear to minor complaints, but I think these issues tend to reveal the priority level of customer care.

Some other things I might point out that may influence your decision.

Room service charges $5.00 to delivery your meal.

Wifi although available for free in the lobby charges $13.00 for 24 hrs in your room.

In room movie charges range from 16.00 to 20.00

We will be returning to SF, but not likely to book a room at the Sheraton.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf. We are glad you enjoyed our ideal location in the heart of the wharf. We apologize that you experienced issues with light shining into the room as well as the T.V. functioning properly. The guest experience is our number one priority at the Sheraton and we have had our engineering department address this issues already. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Overall it was a great visit because the location is excellent and the rooms were spacious and clean. I've stayed in much nicer 4 star hotels so I think this one belongs more in the 3.5 star category. We won this for a great price bidding on priceline so we were very happy but I would never pay full price for this hotel.

The lobby had a nice little cafe where we got lattes and panini's for breakfast. It was a short walk to the wharf.

We parked two blocks away to save money in this garage that only charged $25 for 24 hours.

Only negative was the creaking noises from the room above us every time they walked....just bring some earplugs to sleep and you'll be fine.

I booked this last minute through hotwire for a great rate. But, it's a push to say that it's a 4 star hotel (as advertised on hotwire).

The bad: Noisy, small, outdated technology. We were given a room on the corner facing the bus terminal and busy street - probably one of the noisiest rooms I've had in years. The lobby is quite modern and nice, they clearly invested some money there. Not so much in the rooms that are small and a little dated looking. We needed a crib in the room and the only place it would even fit was between the wall and the bed - so that left us crawling off of the end of the bed to get out. The heating/cooling was an old style motel push button heater - no automated thermostat, just on or off by push button. Wireless internet access for free is only available in the lobby.

When I requested an interior (quieter) room for a second night, I was told (around 11am) we would have to completely pack up and leave everything with the bellman, check out then come check back in later in the day. I pushed to see if they could find a room to move to directly, and they were supposed to call me back - an hour later we just gave up and checked out to stay somewhere else that second night.

The good: the location is terrific for fisherman's wharf. The bed and linens were comfortable too. Also, the lobby and outside seating area with fire pits was really nice and modern. I didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't comment on the food quality.

What to know before you go: Ask for a quiet room - hopefully they can find something facing the parking garage to minimize the noise factor. Parking is $45 per 24 hour period; high speed internet is available for a fee in the rooms (no big deal, but I didn't expect an extra fee from the hotwire description)

Room Tip: Ask for an interior quiet room if you don't want to hear traffic noise or buses going in and out...

Hotel in great location but very ordinary. Large comfortable room but noisy generator outside window going off all night. Only bar was in the lobby and not well presented and used for bar / cafe/takeaway/wifi area. I have never been in a hotel before that used plastic throwaway cups in the rooms for water/drinks and the tea/coffee cups were Starbucks takeaway paper cups.

Room Tip: Close a different hotel

I stayed here on a Saturday night in March. Even thought parking is 50 bucks it is always nice to know there is a safe place for your car. The service was excellent from the valet to checking in. I believe the whole process was no longer then 10 minutes. We had a room on the first floor with 2 double beds. The room was decent, but most definitely the street view of a bus lot was interesting to say the least. The noise wasn't a problem at all though for my friend or I. The bathroom area is tiny and only 1 person can be around the sink area at a time etc. The beds were comfortable! The room overall was nice and clean and everthing it states on the website. As for a place to eat the place in the hotel was on the pricey side, but convenient. It had pastries, sushi, American food, coffee, soda, alcohol. Etc. And you order at the counter and you had a choice to get it to go or eat at the tables. We orderd our food to go and as we waited got cocktails to sit out at the firepits at. The firepits really add a special touch to the hotel. The location is great with a lot of things to do in walking distance! Overall, the stay was Good and for the right price I would stay again!

We are delighted to hear that you had an amazing stay with us and that our convenient location helped you explore the local area. Your comments for our service and well-appointed guestrooms are greatly appreciated. Our parking fee is very comparable to other hotels in the area, and although there are other neighboring lots, our lot offers a secure place to come and go as you please. Thank you for sharing your feedback on our dining options and our new unwind area out near the fire pits. We appreciate your valuable remarks and hope that you will consider the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf on your next visit to San Francisco.

Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds, comforters and pillows (4 each) so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and nice to have the sink area separate from the shower area. Even the coffee in the room was good! Usually hotel water makes it nasty but not here. There's a comfortable chair for reading and a desk area w/chair. All entrances and hallways were clean as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's an IHop right across the street within the block and the Hollywood Cafe in less than 2 blocks. Fisherman's Wharf is 2-3 blocks as are the Sightseeing Tours. We could have used more than two drawers but I would still definitely stay here again and hopefully I will:)
