“Near Pier 39 - Fisherman's Wharf”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Contrary to other reviews, the service (front desk in particular) was actually very good. The location was also excellent if you want to be near Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf but just like many other places in San Francisco, this place gets sketchy, especially at night. There are many homeless people in the area and tons of hoodlums. I also didn't feel secure at the gym (open 24 hrs) which is located in their other building across the parking lot entrance. The door was not locked, there was no security and was accessible by anyone. Beds were not comfortable and the hotel had a mildewy odor throughout. 4 stars for location b/c it's across the street from Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf

Dear jb, many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel and for your kind remarks regarding our front desk service. I most certainly will pass this on to the Front Office team as they will be happy to hear they made a difference with your stay. I was pleased you enjoyed our location and comfortable beds, however wanted to clarify that we do indeed have key-card restricted access into our Sheraton Fitness center, both at the access point of the building and then again to enter the fitness center itself. Only guests with a valid room key are allowed to enter both areas to insure we maintain the highest level of security as possible. Thanks so much for the visit and we look forward to your next stay with us. Take care and warm regards,

We stayed for two nights in room 4111. The room was spacious and clean. The kingsize bed was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The check-in was very efficient. The location is perfect, just one block away from the piers. And from me no complaints about the price of the parking, I knew upfront that the prices are high in San Francisco.

But I'm not 100% positive. There are some points to improve. The atmosphere on the 4th floor felt a bit cheap, like a motel. The bathroom was extremely small. The toilet was sized for a kid and not for an adult. And the walls seem to be from paper. You can easily here the people in the room next to you.

Not a bad place to stay. A little run down but great location if you want to be near the waterfront. One thing - don't bother the evening consierge. He's too busy with his laptop to be pleasant. Also, don't go for coffee between 7am-8am. There's only one person on - who's quick but when you have 20 people!!!! You'd think they'd put on a second person before 8am.

The fire pits are nice to sit at on a cool evening though.

Dear Rob_purdy, many thanks for the review and for alerting us to the fact you had an issue with one of our evening concierge. I have passed on your remarks to the owner of that service to insure he follows up with the staff as we most certainly do not want guests left with such an impression. We also adjusted the schedule of our 2nd person at the lobby kiosk to arrive a bit earlier than previously scheduled to insure proper coverage from 7 am onwards. Thanks so much for bringing these issues to my attention and I wish you safe travels and warm regards,

We spent two days and one night sightseeing in San Francisco and this hotel was perfect. We were able to check in early with no hassle what so ever and the entire staff could not have been more friendly and helpfu, going out of their way with suggestions and directions. The room was clean, quiet (even though it was next to the elevator!) and comfortable. We liked the casual, up beat decor. Starbucks coffee in regular size cups was great. Thought the parking was a good deal and convenient since we did not need to move our car for two days.

What a great hotel! The staff was fantastic......Jim at the front desk was excellent and very helpful. Merta the wonderful 'firepits' waitress took extremely good care of us in the evenings sittng outside. Denise our housekeeper was the best! The bed was very comfortable and the room was just the right size so you had plenty of space to spread out. Finally, Jesse at the Conceirge desk certainly knows his stuff and pointed us the right direction to fabulous restaurants and great spots not to be missed.

Room Tip: We had a standard King room on the third floor........it was perfect!

This hotel is huge and very, busy. The rooms are a decent size and comfortable, however, they have no rooms w/ 2 queen beds. Your choices are one king or 2 doubles. The hotel is only 4 floors spread out over a large city block with only one bank of elevators so, depending on room location, you could have a very long walk to your room. The outdoor pool is a plus if you are traveling with children. Get the breakfast included with your stay if you can. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. I was not that familiar with SF and chose this hotel based on reviews saying it's well-located. If I had it to do again, I would choose a different area of the city as Fisherman's Wharf is touristy in the worst, garish sort of way.

Dear Coolya, thanks so much for the 4-star review and for your kind remarks on our outdoor pool and breakfast buffet. We are located in the midst of Fisherman's Wharf however offer convenient transportation to other areas of the city with the MUNI streetcar line right behind the hotel and our world famous cable cars only a block away that travel to Chinatown, Nob Hill and Union Square. Looking forward to your return visit and wishing you warm regards,
