“Good spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014 via mobile

Cute, quaint, clean hotel. Good location near fisher mans wharf. Victorian feel. Includes free wifi. Nice bathrooms even though they're shared. Helpful staff. For some reason they pack away the tea and coffee service after hours though?

We booked this hotel for the first week of June based on the reviews. We absolutely loved this place! It's located in close proximity to plenty of attractions, restaurants, the pier, nightlife!
My wife and I were in room 72 a quaint room with 2 double beds on the southwest corridor of the 3rd floor. Beds were very comfortable and linens were fresh! We slept perfectly. We were adjacent to the alley and street noise was kept to a minimum.
A lot has been said about the communal baths and showers. At no time were we unable to gain access to a bathroom or shower! All were well maintained and well stocked with towels. Water pressure was excellent and the toilets are those old box and chain deals like on the Godfather haha!
As a base of operations for the San Francisco leg of our trip, this place was perfect! I strongly recommend a room with an outside view for the sake of fresh air as some rooms face the corridor! All in all a great little place and we will definitely be returning here!

This hotel was very lovely with his 1940's atmosphere. I very appreciate my stay, and everything (bed, shower, rooms) was clean and great! It was not expensive and the employees were nice with us! Lovely place to stay in SF!!

I'm a San Francisco native, and I live ten minutes outside the city. I've stayed at the San Remo a number of times for short "holidays" just to enjoy the city and especially North Beach, my favorite neighborhood. Staying at the San Remo feels like traveling to another country for the price of a decent dinner. Small rooms, shower down the hall, no TV? No problem. If you don't care about those amenities and want a comfortable and charming place to say in an absolutely unbeatable location at an unbelievable price, this is your place. I hope it's around forever--or at least as long as I am!

We love to have our San Francisco natives that live near the city stay with us and enjoy a getaway.

The San Remo Hotel is the perfect place to spend a night in town to experience a couple of days in a different atmosphere without breaking the bank.

Thank you for staying with us.

I've stayed here on two separate occasions and constantly recommend it to friends.
The location is great, the décor immaculate, and it has an eccentric period charm without the run-down grottyness of some classic American motels. Don't be put off by the lack of en suite bathrooms, it's really not a big deal - just soak up the atmosphere.

It was my second stay at the San Remo Hotel and it was a great experience once again. Friendly and helpful staff, great hospitality and awesome location ! It's located right in the middle of the main attractions : Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard Street, Coit Tower, Cable cars (you can go to Union Square in about 10-15 minutes by cable car), Pier 39. In addition to all those benefits, San Remo is really cheap comparatively to the other hotels in the area.

Thank you for your review. We are known for being the best budget Hotel in San Francisco. We offer the best rate in the Fisherman’s Wharf / North Beach area.

San Francisco is an expensive city to visit and we are happy to make your stay affordable by providing a clean nicely decorated hotel at a budget price.

We hope you return when your travels bring you to our beautiful Bay Area.

The San Remo is not the type of hotel I typically stay at as I am a business traveler and typically stay at Marriott or Hyatt properties but had to look for an alternative in SF last week due to a convention sending prices into the $700/night range for these properties. So I had to look for an alternative that didn't blow the expense budget and the San Remo had good reviews. It turns out they are well earned. The hotel is as advertised with shared bathrooms and small rooms but it is clean, the bed is comfortable, the staff is pleasant and it is in a quiet area. If you are looking for basic lodging at a fair price, you can do a lot worse than the San Remo.
