“Nice Hotel - Just watch your location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2014

Very nice hotel that is close to a lot of attractions. The breakfast for HHonors is with Starbucks so its limited if you think you are getting a good breakfast. Also watch where your room is. I was right by the elevator and you could hear it operate all the time.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are glad that our location was central for exploring the nearby local attractions. We apologize that you felt the breakfast was limited. For a $10 upgrade, we offer our full breakfast buffet at Urban Tavern which offers a variety of items. We are also sorry that the elevator was noisy. Next time, feel free to ask our Front Desk for alternative options for your room and we would be happy to try and accommodate you. Thank you again, we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Stayed here for 4 days while vacationing in SF. Really enjoyed staying here. Very nice hotel. As soon as you walk in the huge lobby gives you a feeling that you just entered a hotel that has high standards. The room was a little on the smaller side, but we were definitely comfortable. Location is good, but it's also very close to the Tenderloin area which is not a great area to walk into, but I had no reason to go walking in that direction anyway so I was able to to avoid it my whole stay. The hotel is a short 3 block walk to the BART Powell Station and beginning/ending stop of the trolley line that takes you over to FIsherman's Wharf. There are tons of places to eat and shop in the area, plus Union Square is a couple of blocks away. If you have a car, parking will cost you, but I found out that this insane rate is typically of SF, so there's no getting around it. Staff were all very helpful and exhibited the customer service that you would expect while at a Hilton Hotel.

If you like the hustle and bustle of the city this hotel is for you. Reception is very busy never a point when it seemed quiet. Room was large and we also had a rollaway which did make getting round the room a bit of an obstacle course but we all fitted in (me, hubbie and daughter 18 and son 16). Good view over city hall in the distance. Well placed for Union square. It is on the edge of the Tenderloin (not a place for lone wandering or any wandering really). This shouldn't stop you staying here but just be aware. If you need concierge be prepared for a wait and this was pretty much the norm, good service when you got there, but seems that there are too many people for the services in the hotel.

The only reason I've not given this a 5 star review is that we found it difficult to locate food areas within such a large hotel and the bar/restaurant attached had very limited space. The reception staff are always too busy to stop and ask. One of the security guards saw/heard us looking for breakfast and recommended the Taylor street coffee bar (out of hotel left and left and it's a yellow signed "hole in the wall") which was the best breakfast in all the hotels we stayed in on our California journey. There is usually a queue, but it is so worth it.

We spent 4 days here. The room was spacious and quiet with a very comfortable bed. There was a great selection of food for breakfast and an I door Starbucks cafe, whoever the queue was every morning longer than the day before so we never had a chance to try it. A bit expensive but I guess is a Hilton. Great location close to transport and restaurants

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that your room was comfortable and that the breakfast at Starbucks was a great way to start your day. We apologize that the lines were long for breakfast. While we were experiencing a higher traffic period, every guest should experience the service they've come to expect from us. Thank you again for your comments, we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Convenient to cable cars and other tourist areas. Rooms are nice but ours were small. Comfortable beds, nice showers and bat facilities. Superb staff, accommodating and very professional. A bit pricey, but it is fun to splurge once in a while. This is a place I could got back to year after year. Great stay!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade if you are an Honors member

We were able to get a high, corner suite. The picture windows were fabulous. For a huge property (1900 rooms), everything worked well. It is an easy walk to Union Square, which was visible from our 41st floor suite. Staff was helpful and friendly. We had dinner guests and five hour free parking was provided to them.

I recently had an opportunity to stay at the Hilton at Union Square in San Francisco. If you like being in the center of the action, this is the place for you. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the Ferry Building. The rooms were nice, and they were clean. We received a seminar rate of $215 a night including taxes. There is a large lobby/lounging area, which was filled with people every day. The Starbucks at the entrance always had a line in the morning. If I had one complaint, a can of diet Coke cost $5.00. (That's the reason for the 4 circle rating). The individuals at the concierge desk were extremely helpful! There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance, too.

Room Tip: We were on the 14th floor, but I wish I would have been higher.
