“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This property is great! It is located a very short distance from the Powell Street BART station. If you are flying into SFO, the cost is only $8.10 on the BART to get there. The front desk staff and concierge are very knowledgeable of the area. The views are hit or miss depending on which tower/floor you are assigned to, but hey, you are in downtown San Francisco....what do you expect? Overall, this hotel is wonderful and I recommend it to anybody staying in downtown San Francisco!

As before the Hilton at Union Square San Francisco, just 2 blocks away from the BART public transport (e.g. to airport), is a nicely located hotel rendering a exploring San Francisco by foot a true pleasure. Though I stayed for business, the odd free time can easily be used efficiently by jumping into some sneakers for a relaxing stroll and check out local culinary facilities. The ambivalent side of San Francisco is the notion that a large of number of people actually have to live on the street! A harsh reality. Stayed in tower 3, that recently had its rooms redone. Personnel is very friendly and helpful. Despite not being a professor, my intrinsic absent-mindedness led me to the reception twice to get a replacement key card to my room. Receptionists adequately asked a few question before sending me of with a new shiny key card (only to be forgotten again). At breakfast personnel were very welcoming and even spontaneously after a few days provided my preferred rude awakening with a double espresso. Last but not least, a reason for me to have returned to this Hilton hotel is the excellent gym facility, well-equiped and free space for ground exercises. I shall definitely return to this hotel should my travels bring me back to this "Flowers in my hair" city

We liked this hotel. Staff were quick and very friendly. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Very convenient for a tourist to walk around. We got a room in tower3 facing the pool which was nice. The conceirge were very helpful is recommending routes and last min places to eat. Though would prefer to depend on yelp as the reviews were accurate for food.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the pool

Nothing super-special, but a decent hotel near the convention center. This is not the closest hotel, but the walk is only 10-15 minutes. There are other hotels closer to the convention center. As of March 2013, the rooms in Tower 3 have been recently renovated, so ask for one of the tower 3 rooms. The staff was very friendly, so that makes for a more pleasant business trip. Not a hotel for vacationers.

Room Tip: The rooms in tower 3 are recently renovated.

It's the Hilton, it's usually my go-to hotel brand. This one was not super luxurious but fairly reasonable I would say for the location it's in. The room we had was definitely average, stayed in a city view which was ok. Worth the extra $19 per night for that? I didn't think so. Some wall paper was pealing off in the room and the bathtub wasn't spectacular. But that didn't ruin our stay. I would probably stay again, but there are a lot of other options in Union Square. The room service (cleaning staff) was really good though. The did a great job and we were impressed with the little things they did which made us smile. The bar attached to the hotel is boring. No character to it at all. Had one drink and headed out to find something else. The Starbucks gets busy in the morning but there is another one a block away.

Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent stay. We are glad you found our hotel to be reasonable in Union Square and you had a good view of the city. We do apologize that there was wall paper peeling, we will let our staff know and fix that right away. We are also sorry that you did not find the bathtub to be spectacular. We invite you to come back and stay in our newly renovated Tower 3 rooms to experience our modern direction we plan to move towards. We are happy that the housekeping staff impressed you and made you smile! Thanks for sharing your feedback, we will work to improve upon the items you pointed out! We hope to get the opportunity to wow you on your next visit to San Francisco!

Fairly standard hotel in an area that has an air of starting to go downhill. Room was on the small side. Bed was EXCELLENT, however. I hate it when they assign a room with shower only, without asking, and that happened here.

The Hilton on O'Farrell Street is very convenient to Union Square and to a BART/MUNI station where you can travel to other parts around San Francisco, the bay area and to the airport. If you don't plan on going somewhere unique or visiting friends out of town, there's no need to bother with the expense of renting a car. Parking in the area is quite expensive. The hotel is clean, modern and comfortable. When you exit the front of the hotel, go right to Union Square and to connect to other local attractions. Going left from the hotel gets you into a seedy neighborhood. In all a very nice place and I would have no problems staying there again.

Room Tip: Probably a room facing East would get you a better view. My room facing West didn't have the be...
