“if you like the DMV, you'll love this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Not worth the money or the Hilton name. This place is huge, which leads to all the problems that a lack of continuity and accountability typically cause. Think long lines and impersonal service. We were in Tower 3 (new rooms, overlooking pool). I'm usually fine with noise from adjacent rooms, but this was completely ridiculous. We could literally hear our neighbors breathing while lying in bed and hear every clink as a glass was set down...Awful. The cheesy jazz piped in from the pool area starting at 8am every day didn't help matters. The new rooms do not have a bathroom door, rather they are outfitted with a frosted glass sliding panel with a 2 inch gap on the bottom. The acoustics in the bathroom make it an echo chamber, causing the whole room to sound like a restroom. Housekeeping was abysmal. No glasses or tissues to start, then trash not emptied, etc. Lastly, the Tenderloin is right out the door, and having traveled in Haiti, Vietnam and Africa, I will say that I have rarely felt as uncomfortable and on-edge as walking 1 block outside this Hilton.

Stayed three nights. Location great for cable cars, trams and walking. Great places to eat breakfast in Mason street. Just on the edge of the business district it could be dodgy walking away from the centre.
The first room was too small to open two suitcases and we weren't allowed to eliminate a chair. However the room we were moved to the second night was in tower 2 and was like a penthouse without the walls. Big enough for a company party. Sofas, chairs and an extra desk
We walked to Fisherman's wharf and China town but should have found the route 'around' rather than 'over' the hill. It's possible.
Handy to pick up your car rental, virtually across the street from the Dollar office.

Room Tip: Ask for the newest tower. We moved to tower 2

I always stay at this hotel while I'm in San Francisco for the Salesforce conference in the Winter. It's a great location for shopping in Union Square and walking to Moscone. Be sure to ask for a room in Tower 1 or 3 - Tower 1 has much larger rooms and Tower 3 has just been redone and is more modern. Although, in Tower 3 my bathroom sink was obscenely small and hard to even wash your face or brush your teeth without getting water all over the floor. Overall, really nice, very large hotel and there's a Starbucks in the lobby - always a plus!

Long lines and general apathy is what we were greeted with from the start of our stay. It didn't help that USC fans were trashing the lobby nightly waiting for their game against Stanford. There is no warmth to this hotel. Room was clean. The surrounding blocks are filled with panhandlers. Note: Park directly across the street from the hotel. It is cheaper and you probably will get your car faster

This hotel is great for couples, families, business travelers, etc! It accommodates all. The fitness center is huge and has every new machine and weight set you can think of. The service was fine, average, and the room/bathrooms were nice and clean.

I recently stayed here for four nights. I was in tower 3 which I was told is the more recently renovated tower. My room was nice, but small. The bathroom was ridiculous with no counter space. The room was fine since it was just me. I don't think I would have wanted to share it. The fitness center was really nice. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful. Great location to Chinatown and the Moscone center.

good basic hotel to cater needs for business and leisure traveller. high hilton standards met in customer service. breakfast really tasty and offers wonderful selection for many dietary needs. good proximity for shopping and for top restaurants in town. one of the big hotels of the city but even when fully booked the only waiting is in elevator service but the waiting times reasonable. hotels works and is renovated to meet standards.
