“Nice find in SF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

This was a nice find in the North Beach/Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco. Convenient parking was in the garage below the hotel. Our 3rd floor king room had ample space and a very large TV. The lobby had a nice bar and quiet restaurant, concierge and very friendly staff. It was walking distance to the Wharf, restaurants in North Beach, Cable cars, Ghirardelli square, and Lombard Street. The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. We didn't use all the facilities, such as the work out room or the outdoor patios, but they looked nice. As all SF hotels, it was pricey but we used our AARP to get a better rate. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for club level to enjoy the continental breakfast.

Right between Fishermans Wharf and Ghirdelli Square, this hotel is in a great location. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful, suggesting great places for lunch and dinner and providing maps. There's a wine bar, serving California wines off the lobby. We only stayed one night, but this hotel made it very enjoyable!

We enjoyed our stay at Pier 2620. The hotel has been refurbished, the rooms are very large and the beds incredibly comfortable. We enjoyed waking up and using the quaint coffee/tea maker! The staff on reception and concierge were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The location is great within easy walking distance to all the Fishermans Wharf attractions, the departure to Alcatraz, the tram terminus and the beginning of the hop-on-hop-off bus routes. We also enjoyed the walk back from the Italian restaurants around North Beach a few times feeling very happy and replete! Having said that the public bus route is a few steps away with very regular services.

We stayed for 3 nights in May as part of a family holiday.
We absolutely loved San Francisco - the restaurants and Bay Area shopping was fantastic.
However we were very disappointed with the room. It was large and clean, but our bed was located directly underneath the Club Restaurant. Everytime someone in the restaurant moved a chair, which was pretty much once every 10 seconds, we were awoken by a scraping noise on our ceiling. This was from 6am every morning- not the relaxing sleep in expected on a vacation!
The room was also a very long way from the elevators which makes it difficult to carry luggage.
The best thing about the hotel is the lovely concierge, who gave us detailed instructions on how to get to the zoo.
The hotel is walking distance to Fishermans Wharf and other tourist destinations such as Alcatraz departure point.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your time touring around the city and surrounding area. We're glad to hear that the size of our guest rooms and cleanliness could meet your expectations, and that you were able to take advantage of our knowledgeable Concierge services to assist you with making the most of your stay in San Francisco. We're sorry to hear about the noise, while we aren't always able to relocate guests, should something like this occur, we would make every effort to move guests to a new room should it be requested. Thank you again for review your stay with us, we appreciate the feedback.

Our taxi driver said it used to be the Hilton but not sure. They have refurbished the reception and lounge areas which look nice, if somewhat clinical but the smell is terrible. They have some kind of airfreshner that smells like toilet cleaner so always had to race to the elevator. The room faced the courtyard so generally quiet but bright lights are on all the time which the shutters cannot completely shut out. The pictures on expedia made the rooms look renovated but they are not. The beds are good and the bathroom ok but expensive for a bed. Location was fine as close to some shops and the cable car but a little more dubious at night. Decided to have a more authentic experience and not stay in Union Square but if I ever went again I would stay there instead.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your recent stay. This property converted from a Hilton property to an independent property on November 1. We're happy to hear that you appreciated some of the new amenities that we offer - including our beds and linens and bathroom amenities. We're sorry to hear that our location could not meet your needs. Thank you again for taking the time to review your stay with us.

It has taken me this long to calm down from our stay in December. My mother and I come to SF every December for a get away for the two of us. We usually stay in the Union Square area but due to me having an accident in August that required me to be wheelchair bound we were unsure if we would make our yearly trip. So we made reservations at the last minute and choose here. When we went to check in there was a mistake made by this hotel that they tried to blame on a third party booking company. We were dealing with Patrick and I can honestly say in my whole life (which is many years) my mother and I have never been treated as rudely as we were by Patrick. I have never had a employee yelled and argue with us the way he did. Told us we were stupid and we got what we deserve for using a third party. He argued with us for 40 minutes that the problem was not his it was ours. We ended up having to call hotels.com and relay the info back and forth because he wouldn't get in the phone with them. After almost an hour he made sure he told us they weren't to blame and got us our room. The bad thing about the whole situation is we ended liking the area to stay better. And the worst thing was the room was nice and the other hotel staff was top notch. Housekeeping and the dining room workers were some of the best we've have. We really want to stay this year but we are afraid we will have to deal with Patrick. Just want to make it known when we went home and got all paper work proof and sent it to them to prove the mistake was theirs we never heard from them. Hotels.com who was not to blame ended up giving my mom a small adjustment on her bill because they felt so bad with what we were put through. And they had the same opinion of Patrick also. If we decide to return I will definitely update on our visit. But I will ask to deal with someone else

Its hard to pick fault with this hotel judging by our stay. We found it ourselves after being unable to afford travel agent suggestions and have seen it soar up the Tripadvisor ratings since booking, for good reason.
Other reviewers complain of noise in street facing rooms and of uninspiring decor in rooms of a hotel selling itself as a boutique property. Well, our room was street facing and there was some noise, but never a problem. In fact, I found the windows opened and they stayed that way most nights. Room decor may err on the side of traditional, but our room was well finished, extremely clean, spacious (for three people) with superb beds and a large TV. Internet access is free and worked well for us, staff were very helpful and a late checkout was organised without fuss. Good tourist location, away from the bustle of Fisherman's Wharf but close to all public transport and very convenient. It seems staff/management are trying hard here and we'd gladly stay again.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review - it was such a pleasure to read! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed the amenities and friendly customer service. We like to describe our location the exact same way - and love to brag about our close proximity to various attractions, but situated in a much less hectic area to be able to relax after a long day. We are continuing the process of updating our guest rooms and hope we'll have the chance to show them off to you the next time you're in the area! We're so glad you found us - we look forward to seeing you again when you visit the area again in the future!
