“Not bad, but not great either”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

First with the positives: Location of this place is fantastic. It's an extremely short walk to the wharf, and if you don't mind walking a mile or so, you can get to a lot of other places as well. The beds are great, we slept very well. Nice giant tv in the room as well.

Other than that, it's a pretty average hotel. The room and bathroom weren’t any better than what you’d find at a 2.5 star hotel. They were doing lots of updates, so I think things could be better when they are done. The fitness center was closed for remodeling. The courtyard area that looks so great in the pictures, well, it pretty much looked like a tool shed on our visit. Unfortunately, that was the view from our room. I had rented the 'premier king room', so I hoped to be in a little better spot than that. If you can save money with the regular room do it, I'm not sure what it would be lacking. No special in-room amenities. Not even a mini-bar or bottled water. The soap, shampoo and conditioner are bolted to the shower wall, like you would see in a gym locker room. Our room choice was supposed to include breakfast, but I was charged for it anyways. They did take the charge off, but made it sound like they were doing me a favor, which was kind of annoying. Breakfast was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal and pastries. It’s your average continental breakfast, but better quality and a more impressive layout. The normal price for it is $25. At that price it should probably include at least an omelet station or something along those lines. If it’s not included in your rate, I’d suggest an alternative. There are plenty of places within walking distance where you can order off a menu for less. Club 2620 access was also included with my rate. Supposedly this is a lounge with complimentary snacks and drinks, I did not see it, so I can’t vouch for that. Parking is $40 a day. That seemed to be pretty standard for all the public lots around there as well.

Overall, this is an average hotel, saved by its location. If you are expecting more than that, you’ll be disappointed.

According to their website they have room service, and a market. And at $200+ per night those options should be a no brainier. Just because you have a flier on the desk for Grub-hub in your room doesn't mean you can say you have room service on your website! The market is a joke. Cup of soup and a microwave, or chips and soda doesn't mean you have a market. Don't list amenities that you don't have! I have no complaints about the quality if the room. It was clean and nice. The staff was friendly. The walls are pretty thin. If you're a light sleeper you might not be happy.

Pier 2620 has taken over this hotel which used to be a Hilton. I like the remodeling they have done and although it is not a brand new hotel it is kind of boutique in its style. We had a family of 4 (two adults and 2 kids) and were tourists trying to get as much out of a San Francisco trip as possible. It would be hard to beat this location. The staff was wonderful and they recommended some pretty unique things to do that ended up being highlights to our trip (Food truck Friday's as one example).

The cost of valet is outrageous ($ 50 per night but self park was $ 40 anyway) and we go unlucky in that right below our room was some sort of work dumpster that had people visiting with junk to dump until 1am in the morning but I could tell the dumpster was temporary and the parking = well it is what it is. Our friends stayed in a place near the financial district and they wish they stayed closer to the bay and to Fisherman's Wharf.

IMHO management has taken over a brand hotel and have made some pretty big strides in turning this into a really nice boutique hotel that has so much potential because of their awesome location. Thanks for the recommendations of things to do and we will most likely be back on our next trip to San Francisco!

This hotel was perfect for a two night stay in the city. I was there for a workshop so I didn't spend much time at the hotel other than sleeping. I did have the opportunity to have a glass of wine in the bar area. I would have rated the hotel as average since they didn't offer room service but the service at the reception and bell desk made up for it. They were very helpful in suggestions for restaurants and shopping areas for me to explore on my time off. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable... I would recommend for a business person or to someone that doesn't plan on spending the majority of their time at the hotel.

Pretty spendy; but our second floor (Jones St. side) room was very comfortable and pretty quite on a weekend. Hotel itself is clean and fairly updated. Didn't notice a restaurant (didn't look that hard). Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable and the room was well appointed and very clean - internet/wifi was pretty lame.

NOTE: Do NOT pay $50 for valet parking. As it is, parking is expensive even if you park yourself and the garage is pretty icky - the sticky stuff on the cement floor near our car almost tore the shoes off my feet! .

Room Tip: Opt for Jones St. side and upper floor.

The good stuff is location and sizeable rooms . The website is misleading as presents a new boutique hotel but this hotel has a very long way to go . They have dressed up the lobby but all 'emperors clothes' . There is no restaurant , the bar is new and has good wine selection but no atmosphere . They are trying on service but ally not sincere and clearly some issues under new management . Biggest problem we experienced was the building works which there is no mention of when book . Just suffered 2 hours of drilling this is on top of an early start due to fire alarm going off , which seems t be a regular occurrence . It may improve but stay away for now

I suppose if you can deal with unbelievably poor customer service and utter chaos in their organization-I suppose the location is good. I cancelled my reservation after having a nightmare experience over the phone, being transferred to the wrong extensions and being disconnected multiple times. Before cancelling my reservation I spoke to Allen, the manager, who had the customer service skills of a teenager with an attitude, actually being argumentative rather than accommodating my request to swap a reservation for a different day when the prices were the same for both days. A nice place with horrendous service is just not worth it to me, that's what I'm paying for.
