“Perfect Location - same old Hilton”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

This hotel is literally 2 minutes walk to the famous Fisherman's Wharf. I had to stay at a deluxe room, because they were all out of regular rooms. The deluxe room was very large in size, relatively new furniture and clean.

There was nothing outstanding about the hotel, except for its location. I found the staff to be very helpful, especially the reception staff.

Parking is very expensive ($40+tax if I am not mistaken), so if you do not need your car several times a day, it may be cheaper to park it somewhere else.

Though your feedback is always welcome and appreciated, we do find our parking rates to be comparable to other hotels in the area. As you mentioned, we’re just a short distance from the Fisherman’s Wharf attractions and our convenient location has certainly become a favorite for our guests. With so much to see and do in the area, we’re always pleased to learn when our staff is helpful during a visit. We appreciate your review and the next time you are in the area, we hope that we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Hilton San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf. Thank you for your review.

“Large Room in a lower quality Hilton, but good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

I stayed here during November 2012, for a business trip.

The Hilton is located in a nice area of town, a couple of blocks from the Piers, a few more blocks (uphill) to Ghiradelli Square, and very close to Streetcar line F and one of the cable car lines.

The hotel lobby was nice, but older. Front desk staff made the check-in quick and easy. There is a business center available, as well as a restaurant and bar. The elevators are small.

My room was large, and very clean. The hotel appears to be a conversion from some other chain. It was honestly a little sub-par for what I expect in a Hilton. The furninshings/decor were older, and the walls (and ceilings) were seriously thin-I felt like I could hear the noises from rooms on all sides. The bed was comfortable, and I slept like a rock!

All in all, the hotel was fine-good, convenient location and clean/comfortable. It's just not your typical Hilton. When I walk in other Hilton lobbies, I always feel like I know exactly what to expect, and while this hotel was nice, it just wasn't "Hilton-y"

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are much quieter.

First, we’d like to thank you for pointing out our surrounding area. You’ve mentioned some great attractions to explore while visiting and the cable cars are always an excellent option to take advantage of while touring the area. It’s regrettable to learn that you felt we did not live up to the standards of the Hilton brand. However, feedback from our guests is always welcomed and your review and impressions regarding your recent stay at the Hilton San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf is very much appreciated. Whether visiting for business or pleasure, we hope you’ll allow us another opportunity to welcome you back.

“Close to piers, good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Hotel is close to piers and king bed was confortable. Not as nice as the Hilton in the Financial District. But close to cable lines. Negative side I'm a light sleeper and could here noise in next rooms and hallways. Room nice and clean.

“Perfectly placed for Fisherman's wharf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Not the greatest Hilton I have ever stayed in BUT without doubt a very good hotel.

This hotel although not tall (3 storeys I think) but it is almost a block wide with rooms either overlooking the street or an inside courtyard, our room was quite a hike from reception.

Rooms are very comfortable and spacious, we had two double beds in ours and ample room besides. Wardrobe space was tiny really. Bathroom was adequate but not huge.

Bedroom areas are only accessible to guests with key card recognition being needed before the elevators will operate going up to rooms.

Breakfast seemed chaotic but was quite pleasant.

The hotel has a small bar area which doubles as a free tea & coffee servery during the day. and you do get free wi-fi access from the public areas.

Staff helpful. It's probably a five minute walk down to Fisherman's wharf and all that offers, it is literally at the 'bottom of the street'...

Car parking is adjacent, I'm not sure if it is owned by the hotel or not but it was costing around $35 a night to park your car if you had one. There are meters on the street but be careful days alternate as to which side and when you can park on.

Room Tip: I'd be tempted to ask for a room not too far from the elevators.

“Large room in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Readers should know that I'm HiltonHonors Gold level, so I receive free room upgrades, when available, as well as free wifi and free breakfast. We booked a large king and ended up with a two-room suite. The room was very comfortable and clean, to typical Hilton standards. Everything worked and the internet connection was fast.

Front desk, room cleaning and wait staff were all attentive and friendly.

The interior seems to be getting a little dated, but it wasn't worn in our room or the common areas that we were in. Perhaps I've been spoiled by some of the newer Hiltons that I've stayed in recently.

The key thing here is the location. I'll post pictures showing sights within four-blocks of the hotel. Besides the wharf area, we went to Halfmoon Bay and Napa Valley, with each drive being just over one-hour. Taxi rides to Haight-Asbury and Union Square were in the $12 to $20 range, including tips.
