We stayed at the Hilton for two nights prior to a cruise, we didn't get a hello or what can we do fo you when we first arrived but the staff were very nice. Our room was hugh, not much of a view but you can't expect too much with a hotel that only has three or four floors. We had a dental emergency and the concierge could not have done enough to get us all sorted with a dentist appointment at a really nice dentist. The breakfast wasn't that nice but they did try and most of the staff in the restaurant were very friendly. Hotel is located within walking distance to Fishermans Wharf and only a block from a tram stop that takes you into town. A big thank you to the concierge who sorted me with a dentist appointment our cruise would have been a lot different with a sore mouth!

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. It is very clean and comfortable. The beds were good and the hotel was clean, the manager and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They even had umbrellas to lend during raining days. The Wi-Fi in the rooms is weak, but you can use the downstairs lounge filled with small tables and chairs, great for homework doing. Since our kids have to make work for school. Free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is offered in the lounge. The hotel is only 2 blocks from Pier 40, a short walk to Little Italy and Chinatown. We had to rent a car for the weekend and Budget was just a block away. There is Ross a block away for all the forgotten to pack items. In all was worth the price for so many conveniences.

Pros - excellent location (near Fisherman's Wharf, Cable Cars), really nice people, great concierge, quiet at night, outstanding breakfast.

Cons - Small rooms, needs updating, staff needed some coaching, parking was pricey.

Hubby and I stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary. He had a meeting scheduled with his company so we did not want to celebrate it separately.

As per other reviews, this hotel is a bit older but definitely not horrible. Room was good. Great mattresses after a long flight from Atlanta. We did have trouble adjusting the thermostate due to the change in weather. Hubby was a little frustrated.

The location is wonderful. Very close walk to the Wharf. You also have great access to Walgreens Pharmacy, Safeway and a Trader Joe's.

Food: (24 hour place for those arriving super late)
We arrived very late at nite. We ended up at a pizza joint but I cannot remember the name. Literally down the street is a 24 hour Denny's. It's located underneath the Holiday Inn. It has it's own entrance so do not worry about locked doors. The hotel recommended Knuckles but their kitchen was closed when we got there around midnight. You might find a few other places open along the wharf. It was hard to tell but any place near the bars will be open.
Just be prepared to see lots and lots of pizza places available. We hit Denny's the next morning and the service plus food were excellent!

Overall-Good hotel option without complete modernity (there are flat screens in the room). Ask yourself this...are you really coming to San Francisco to stay in your room? I think not! You will feel safe here. Our room faced over the courtyard so no street or people noises. Good concierge services and also have airport transportation available. If you are game for it, you can walk to the North Beach area where there a lot of restuarant options. Wear super comfortable shoes if you are going to do that rather than a cab. If you are here for business then stay in the downtown area or else you will have to cab it. Hubby changed hotels after I left to meet up with co-workers. At least that is what he told me. :-) I think he loves me because he gave me his itinerary. He's a keeper. Hope this is a helpful review.
