“Nice Starwood Property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

I had a quick business to SF last week. I usually stay at the Palace, however it was too pricey. I picked the Le Meridien and was very pleased. The hotel room was small, but it was well appointed and very comfortable.

Room Tip: Its actually closer to places than I thought

Great location if you are on business as it is in the heart of the financial district - and for tourists a short walk to the ferry building and pier 39.
VERY comfortable beds / linens and room.
If you want to go to Union Sq for shopping, it is a 15 min. walk or $8 taxi.
Not many evening restaurants in the Fin. Dist. - most for the lunch crowd.
We were there on a Sunday night so there were slim pickings for name restaurants.
However, the hotel Bistro 333 is a great find for a light snack or dinner.

Room Tip: ask for view of the bay

This trip was for Labor Day holiday. This is my 3rd time using le Meridien, and as my earlier experience was overall very pleasant, so was the case there in San Francisco. Service was outstanding, from the bellmen eagerly awaiting to open the doors at the entrance to meeting us at the sight of my ticket to pick up our bags from when they agreed to hold it after checkout so we could go on a wine country tour in Napa Valley. Unlike any of San Francisco's trashy surroundings and homeless people, it sure was nice to see it stopped there with le Meridien. The upgrade to a Sea/Bay view room near the top at the mention of our very recent wedding was nice as well. Breakfast could have had more variety at $21, but it was just enough to satisfy. The merit of Meridien once again holds true to its value.

We really enjoyed this property. The front desk staff was very helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were clean, and the beds super comfortable. The area that the hotel is in is not a great location for going out, as its mostly a business district, but just a short cab ride gets you many fun places.

Room Tip: high floor was a nice view

Got this hotel through a good deal. Even though it is neither at union square or fishermans wharf, the two tourist hotspots, both are very easy accessible by cable car or walking. The room was clean, well equipped and had a great view. Nice staff, all in all worth a stay if you get a good price.

I stayed here for one night and it was perfect. Very clean, friendly staff, great view of the Bay Bridge, and the bed was super comfy. There is also a great pub across the street (Elephant and Castle)
I would easily stay here again but be aware that all of the surrounding stores in the financial district close before 7pm.

I stayed at the hotel this week and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service offered. I received a warm welcome at the front desk and the service staff were very polite.

My room faces the TransAmerica pyramid and also offered a good view of the maritime pier. It was spacious even though the furnishings is a tad outdated. Everything in the room works fine but things just seem old-fashioned.

However, I had a rude surprise when I got back one day to find that my room was not made for the day. This may make me sound high-maintenance but I believe that room-cleaning is the one basic thing that should be done on a daily basis.

All in all, I would say that the hotel is good, just not great.
