“Wonderful Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2007

We only stayed here two nights, but it was a great hotel for the great deal we got for it on Expedia. We booked a non-view room, but upon check-in, asked for a view, and was given one on the 21st floor. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable with many pillows. I would highly recommend this hotel and if you are looking for a deal, this is it! Also, as everyone has stated, the location is awesome. We took the BART from the airport and we stepped out of the station and the hotel was right there. Very convenient!

The hotel was very nice, clean room, great location. The only problem with this hotel is their expensive parking $40/day. My recommedation is they shold provide free/inexpensive wireless access to customer

The Parc 55 is a great hotel for the value. We took a gamble and booked on Hotwire, but were pleasantly pleased with what we got for $110 a night. The checkin was smooth, room service was good and the valets were fast and helpful. The concierge was a bit snotty, but hey, it happens.

The only bad thing was the Friday night we were there, some drunk morons were down in the street yelling and doing their best to get hit by taxis at 1 a.m. We could watch them from our room and wished we could have thrown water balloons at them or something to make it more interesting...

Even though we were nine floors up, it made sleep tough for a while. No wonder they have complimentary ear plugs in the bathrooms! Overall, a nice hotel with a great location.

Booked two rooms online, based really on position, and were delighted. Large clean rooms, helpful staff, would not hesitate to recommend. Central to all we wanted and handy for transport to airport (BART), trolley buses and trams. Aware of homeless but not intimidated by any.

We stayed at Parc 55 over the weekend and found it to be a fair hotel in a central (but not nice) part of downtown SF. I would echo some of the other reviews in saying that while the rooms were clean and the staff were professional, DO NOT come here if you are expecting a 4 star (i.e. Westin, Sheraton, Hilton) type hotel. Having stayed at multiple large-scale business hotels in downtown SF, Parc 55 is on the very bottom of that range. Definitely doesn't deserve its AAA four diamond. Come here if you want a central location and if you can get a much lower rate than from other hotels, but given the choice, I'd definitely recommend going elsewhere.

The location is excellent, a couple of minutes walk from Powell Street BART, which is very handy for the airport. It's also good for the downtown restaurants, and it's quite easy to get buses to other areas such as Little Italy to eat. The other main attractions e.g. Golden Gate Bridge (2 buses), Fisherman's Wharf (take a tram from Powell Street) the pier for Alcatraz (streetcar) are very accessible on public transport - get a MUNI card and public transport map from the info centre next to Powell Street station to make the most of this. The room was very comfortable and there's also a more than adequate gym. Try the coffee shop a couple of doors down for breakfast. It was excellent value with Expedia in the UK. As many reviewers will point out, there is a very visible homelessness problem in San Francisco, and this is evident downtown where the hotel, shops and restaurants are. However, we found that at night there are enough people around to feel reasonably safe walking around.

We stayed at the Parc 55 for 4 nights in March, during a combination of business and weekend getaway travel. The hotel was very busy (lots of airline crews, tour groups, etc.); front desk personnel were perfunctory and distracted, but did honor our request for a view room, which was great! We booked through the hotel website, and got a good rate.
Our room was spacious, but not well cleaned...poorly dusted and carpet had many "leftovers" from previous guests. Bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned.
Cleaning staff were very nice, but VERY NOISY when coming and going in the early morning from their supply room, which was near our room...doors slamming, loud conversation, etc. at 7 a.m., including on the weekends. Calls to housekeeping and front desk did not change this.
Concierge was marginally helpful when asked for referrals to basic things (health food store, wine shop, etc.)
Room service was prompt and brought some nice little extras.
Internet access is $12/day for cable. Refrigerator in the room is $25 one-time charge.
Location is terrific; we took BART from the airport and were at the hotel less than an hour after our flight arrived (checked bags). We walked all over the city, and it was never a problem to get a cab right outside the hotel.
All-in-all, might stay here again, but will first explore other options in the city. Prefer a cleaner room, and more personal service from concierge.
