“Great location and comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Recently spent 5 nights at the Inn. We arrived from the Airport, long taxi ride about $60 including tip. The Inn is located at Pacific Hgts area on the edge of the shopping/restaurant area. It is an older style Hotel with plenty of parking if needed. Room we were allocated for our stay was not what I would call a room I would love to stay in for the 5 nights...it desparately needs a renovation. Next morning I went and spoke to the very helpful manager who quickly allocated us to a wonderful room that ensured our stay was great. Beds were super comfortable and we had access to a basic kitchen with a large fridge and microwave including a dinning table.
Shower recess was small but adequate with Ok pressure. Room was well presented. Very close by is Bubbles coin laundry which is perfect. You have a couple of convenience stores a couple of minutes walk which have all your basics. Also close by is some great restaurants including Luisa"s a wonderful Italian restaurant about 10 minutes down the road. Apparently she is an icon in San Francisco restaurant world. It is about a 20 minute walk to San Francisco bay and a further 5 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf. You are only a 10 minute walk ( it is a very steep climb) to San Franciscos famous crooked street. Some wonderful restaurants all with a short walk from the Inn as well some great archeciture in residential buildings. Another positive for the location is you have a basic level walk to Fishermans Wharf and to connect to the ferry to go to Alcatraz whci is about 25 minutes away. No steep hills to negotiate to obtain access to the waterfront. Breakfast is included in the price...well I wouldnt call it your traditional continental breakfast more like sugar and fat to kick off the day. Pound cake and super large muffins is not very healthy 5 days in a row however you do get tea and coffee as well as orange juice. Think if I was the owner I would can the fat/sugar intake in the morning.
Having said all that the room was very good value for a major city in USA & so close to everything important in San Francisco. Many thanks to the duty manager when we checked in as he was very helpful.

Room Tip: Dont book room 8, room 11 is great

“Nice economy motel in good location- free parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Great place to stay. Park your car and use public transportation ($2) to get to Chinatown or the Embarcadero- you'll have a tough time finding street parking, but you can spend $18 for a parking garage. I've stayed in this motel on two different occasions. Taxis are also cheaper than parking.

The first time, I was referred to it by the Travellodge. I stayed in #2. It was wonderful- nice big king room (handicapped) with 2 full bathrooms! On one side, there was a handicap bathtub in a room you could roller skate in- the other had a shower and was a little smaller. It could have used some housekeeping attention, but not much. Hair on the bathroom floor, etc and forgot to take out the bag and clean the coffeemaker altho the pot was clean..

The second time I stayed in #29- what a great room! Room nothing- it was a small apartment! Two queens, nice remodeled bathroom with a great shower, and a separate kitchen. Stove, ref, table and chairs, dishes, knives- fully supplied. What a treat, and the same price as a plain room. Very nice and clean.

I highly recommend it and will stay every time I'm in the city.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are quieter than street level, and the 'U' shaped building helps buffer f...

“Two words...FREE PARKING”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

This small motel is located in the heart of the Marina district of San Francisco. It is surrounded by cute shops and restaurants within very easy walking distance. There is a bus stop 1 block away with a short ride into Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach.

The coolest thing about this motel is the FREE PARKING followed by the price...$109 per night in SF is a steal, especially when it includes parking. The rooms are standard motel rooms with funky bed spreads and carpet and a really good shower. Our room had a very comfortable king size bed, a small sofa, refrigerator and a microwave...in the closet!! They also have free wifi that actually works.

More 4 stars are for convenience, price and parking. The is a no frills establishment. If you are looking for white bathrobes, slippers, an honor bar and fancy soap, shampoo and a concierge this is not the place for you. If you are looking for good value in a great neighborhood this is your place.

The staff is very friendly and nice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from he street.

“Pacific Heights Inn, San Francisco, CA.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Convenient to Fisherman's Wharf/the Aquarium/Hyde Street Pier/etc., and comfortably priced; this is an excellent “budget” motel ... although the “breakfast “is meagre ... but there are plenty of eateries within a couple of minutes walking distance – try the omelettes at Cafe Lombard!!!
However; the staff more than compensate for any shortcomings. The rooms are small ... but clean and comfortable. The cleaning-staff must be elves; because we never saw them, but they certainly did their jobs!
If you’d rather spend your money on things other than expensive accommodations, than this is the place for you!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back (away from Union Street) and on the r/h (North) side will have the least traffic n...

“Bad value for the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Small old rooms - not very clean. Very small breakfast - 7 to 9 am only - 1/4 of a muffin and that is it. The thermostat for the heater does not work - it is controlled centrally only so you depend on the management to decide what the temperature of the room should be. The location is good and the free parking is a plus but that is all you get. As long as you stay here you feel like you paid way too much for what you get. We paid $180/per night with $50 tax in mid week. Next time I would love to pay $50 more for one of the other hotels in the area and feel much more comfortable.
