“When you are staying in SF you won't be in your room very often”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

This is one of those boutique hotels which means it's an old building brought up to code with few amenities meant for young broke intellectual travelling couples on a budget. I got this place bundled with a flight on a Priceline deal. The main thing you should realize about this place is you are in the heart of downtown, a five minute walk to the MUNI/BART station. You will not need a car for anything. The location is the key. The building itself is kind of nice. Small but modernly updated lobby. Front desk staff ok. I took the old sliding door kind of elevator up to my room and of course the first thing one notices is the bed literally takes up three quarters of the tiny room but that's ok. The TV sucks but that's ok too. As for climate control forget about it. Nothing seems to work as the place as old as it is, is also very stuffy. When fiddling with the temperature control I gave up and just opened the damn window. That worked perfectly. I had a room with a shower/tub/toilet and they served their function. There are rooms that have a shared bathroom/toilet thing located in the hallways on each floor. This is not as bad of a set up as one may think. It will also shave a good amount from the room bill so consider that. There's an old retro 30s designed kind of restaurant on premisis, they also do a "wine tasting(?)" Neither of which I indulged in. Remember the key here is location. Very much recommended.

The Mosser was a stylish hotel in a fantastic location right on Market Street close to all the major amenities in San Francisco.

Room were smallish (this is San Francisco!) but very clean and tidy. We had a room with an en suite but be careful when booking as some rooms have shared toilets and bathrooms.

Rooms were reasonably priced but be aware that if you're bringing a car the hotel charges $35 a night for secure valet parking (just under $40 with tax) but this is normal for San Fran (you could pay less but would have to do A LOT of driving around the city to find cheaper garages that don't offer in and out privileges).

The only downside was that it was a little noisy but I think this was due to guests rather than the hotel or location itself.

Overall this was a great hotel to stay in to explore the beauty of San Francisco.

Great location , less than a Block from the Bart station . The cable car makes it turn around on Powell street where you can hop on and go directly to fishermans wharf. Lots of activity in the area near the hotel. Shops and large departments stores if shopping is your thing. A nice mall less than a block away with movie threatres and a food court. The hotel was very clean and beds were comfortable.Free coffee and muffins each morning and wine hour around 4pm each evening. Union square was two blocks away where we took the The Big Bus, hop on and off double decker tour of the city. it was worth the money , used it for two days to see the city and to get to fishermans wharf and Sauilito. From Sauilito we took a city shuttle for $5 round trip to Muir Woods National monument worth the trip . Beautiful thousand year old redwoods.

The hotel location is excellent, very close to the Union Square, clean and cheaper than other hotels in this location.
Still expensive for a small room but that's what you gotta pay if you stay in San Francisco.
Definitely recommend this place :)

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was fine, clean, staff was nice, we had a room with bathroom - the room was still pretty small, even for the two of us. We stayed here on a Groupon, so it was heavily discounted. The normal rates for this place seem unreasonably high for what you get. If you are considering this hotel, you should know that it is in Union Square - a big mall. Hey, that's great if you came to SF to shop at Target and Old Navy, or eat at an overly priced mediocre restaurant. Just know that this area has absolutely no personality at all, and you could do better.

This was a very nice hotel with a fantastic location, great decor, and very clean.

What we liked: -location, location, location. Great for shopping and seeing SF (particularly if you want to spend time in an area other than fisherman's wharf).

-Great little lobby/

-Nicely decorated rooms (Small room, but they tell you that up front, it was just what we needed for a couple who spent most of their time either out on the town or sleeping).

-Good value

What was left us unsatisfied:
-Weird lighting in the room (all the lights were dim-able, but had CFL bulbs, creating interesting situations).
-Some poor fixture selection in the room meant using the sink was at times interesting (and forget trying to fill a water bottle in it).

-Some of the front desk staff was down right rude (most was very nice), but after arriving late (around 10 pm) and asking if there was somewhere we could go to pick up pizza the front desk man literally threw a flyer for a pizza company (who's phone number didn't work), at me.

The Mosser is situated in the heart of SF. It's the perfect location to start your site-seeing in town.
The rooms are pretty small for the price. Bathroom and lavatory are shared. This means that there are 2 bathrooms on one level and a toilet. We were there for four days and i never had to wait to use any of these. Bathroom and lavatory are kept very clean.
Breakfast consists of coffee and muffins, which is frankly better than nothing.
In this hotel everything all space is efficiently used. Rooms look modern and are kept very clean.
Parking valet is too expensive; 35 dollar a day. However this is a problem in the entire city.
We parked our car at 29th and california; this is a nice neighborhood where one can park for free.
