“Great location but Tiny Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

You can't fault the strategic location of this hotel. Very convenient for those who have just arrived in SF from the airport. We took the BART directly to Powell Station and then just walk to the hotel. It is so convenient, despite us having to lug 2 big suitcases and another 2 small ones. The hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants, a little noisy at night and early morning, if you get a room facing the road, which we did. The only downside is that the room is really tiny. Good thing we were there only for 1 night. We only had to unpack 1 suitcase and let the others standing upright to save space. Besides that, we have no other complaints about this hotel. You can get free wifi from the room and water pressure for hot shower was strong and reliable. We will recommend this hotel for those who want to be near the BART station.

I spent 5 nights at Hotel Abri during the start of the America's Cup, early Sept 2013. If you want to stay down town central to all tourist points, the location could not be more convenient and easy 1 minute walk to Bart and Muni transport systems. Front desk staff were 100% brilliant and room modern and immaculate. Only criticism was that I was initially placed in a street side room ~ the front desk warned me it would be noisy on the weekend. However, on this Tuesday night I couldn't sleep from 2am - 4am for drunk party goers outside. Luckily I was able to shift rooms to an internal room the next day, although at certain times in the day even this room was noisy due to ceiling floor boards and guests above. If you're sensitive to noise like I am, stay in an internal room for sure. Also disappointing that the restaurant next door doesn't do room service for breakfast. I went twice for breakfast and both times left waiting for over 5 minutes to be seated ~ they were very busy. I recommend Cafe Mason one block away, they have 8 different styles of eggs benedict! A hollaindaise miracle!

Room Tip: Choose an internal room - smaller but much quieter.

Always concerned about a new place, but this was a gem! First, the friendly front desk gave us an upgrade from a regular room to a two room suite on the top floor. Why? Because we always ask for an upgrade, and they were happy to do it. How about that! Good room, two large flat screen TV, a million (or so it seemed) channels, with up to the minute connection devices for iPad, iPhone, and iPod. Great bed. Free wifi. Free computer with printer in the lobby to print boarding passes. What a location! Convenient to all transportation. Couple blocks from Powell BART and Union Square. Pleasant half hour walk to see the Giants at AT&T Park. You can get a cab at the front door in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend...great experience. Also, fine Italian restaurant connected to hotel.

This hotel is in a really really good location right in the middle of union square. Great shopping and bars right at your doorstep. The rooms are quite small but the room was modern. We had a room that looked out onto the street and it was quite noisy from the nightclub "fusion" across the street so would recommend a room not facing the street. the man on reception was really helpful and gave us a list of great places to eat and things to do, he even helped us out by giving us some recommendations for our next stop in New York. Really close to cable car and everything really.

Loved this hotel. Rooms very tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Great location and excellent service. We did receive an upgrade due to the draining and stressful drive into San Francisco an getting to the hotel which was very unexpected and much appreciated.

Very nice hotel, but as others have said you should ask for a room towards the back if you want a peaceful night. The nightclub across the street is apparently very popular, and there's a lot of traffic and people on the street shouting into the wee hours of the morning. This happened to be a holiday weekend, though, so it might not always be like that.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street if you want a quiet night.

Nice new rooms, quiet at night. The location is perfect. We had a great experience here, and we would definitely stay here again. Much better experience than Hotel Union Square. Close to the BART and right next to the route to jump on the Cable Car.
