“In the heart of the Wharf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

I really enjoyed a five day stay here at the beginning of the year. I and a friend decided to stay in Fisherman's Wharf so that we would be near the touristy area, rent a car to drive to the other part of SF. It is easily accessible by bus, and there is a spa next door that is unique and adequate. The breakfast was just OK, and the room was adequate. It was about average for a Marriott, and could use some updating.

Overall this Marriott is what you would expect. Clean , nice rooms, decent included breakfast in my deal , and a great location for me since I was working downtown. There are many great restraints within walking distance of the hotel, and I never felt unsafe walking around. The really negative things are 1.) the cost to park my rental car was 48.00 a day, and 2.) Internet was billed to my room at almost 13.00 a day.
It always bothers me when Internet isn't free at a hotel. And the parking daily rate is outrageous.

Stay at this hotel yearly, always a pleasure. Clean rooms, attractive lobby with good bar. Excellent location within walking distance of many attractions. Ask for a higher room or suite, street noise on lower levels doesn't allow for a higher mark. Staff is friendly and very helpful, room rate good, worth a stay.

This is our second time staying at this hotel in San Francisco. The rooms are clean, staff is pleasant and very accommodating. This time around we got upgraded to a suite - it was a birthday celebration visit and it was a nice surprise to get the upgrade. Also, after we checked out, we still had a little bit of sightseeing to do and we were able to leave the car in the hotel's garage until 5:00P which was awesome. This hotel is very close to Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, etc. It was a wonderful trip and will most definitely stay at this Marriott again :-)

This hotel is just outdated.......like all of the others in this area of town. The hotel is decent, nothing to brag about, but all of the hotels in this area seems out outdated compared to the other Marriott I've stayed at during the past three

The nightlife is great and there are plenty of food and drink options in the nearby area. I loved the area at night because there is a lot of shopping and dining experience to explore at night.

I visited the other Marriotts before staying here and that skewed my impression of this hotel.
I expected more and it just wasn't the, but the location was great. If given options stay downtown, but party in this area.

Cheers

The location of this Marriott is terrific. It is an easy walk to the Wharf. There are cute cafes for breakfast within two blocks. Some of the best Italian food in SF is walking distance, too. The facility itself seems more like a Holiday Inn than a Marriott...it is a bit dated. But the real reason to stay here? Pablo the Concierge! He knows the city & knows what visitors like. We followed all of his leads and had a fantastic weekend. He's gold!

I was blessed to have the opportunity to see the beautiful city of San Francisco with my parents this past January. We spent four days in the gorgeous Marriott hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf. The hotel itself was just recently renovated, so everything is clean and neat. There is a very nice restaurant in the lobby that is well priced. The hotel is situated a mere two blocks from historical Pier 39 and the rest of Fisherman’s Wharf; so many things to do are within walking distance.
There are many quaint gift shops at Pier 39, but lets not forget the Pier’s main attraction: the sea lions. It is free admission and requires no reservation to spend an afternoon watching the sea lions sun bathing on the floating docks. If you are looking to do something a little more adventurous, just simply walk down to a next-door Pier and rent bikes. The bike rentals are cheap and easy to acquire, but most importantly, they supply a day of fun for all ages. There is a bike path right along the water and is away from cars and traffic so it is safe to travel on. The ride to the bridge is very nice but remember a jacket, as it does get chilly! Once you get across the bridge, proceed on a downhill ride into the cute fishing town of Sausalito where you will find many boutiques and cafes. When you are ready to return to San Francisco, simply go down to the docks and board a ferry, which will bring you right back to Pier 39. We timed the ferry ride just right and got to experience the sun setting on the bay while passing both the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as, Alcatraz Island. What a great way to spend a day!
If the Pier gift shops didn’t satisfy your shopping itch, just walk two blocks from your hotel toward Ghirardelli Square and board the cable car for only five dollars. It is not only cheaper than getting a cab, but its more fun too! We even caught glimpses of Coit Tower on our ride downtown! The end of the cable line lands you in the heart of all of the shopping.
After so many activities, we were very tired and wanted to watch a movie with a bag of popcorn. The hotel was very close to a Walgreens, so running out to get movie items was super easy! The hotel staff was even kind enough to send a microwave to our room so we could make our own popcorn.
Overall, our stay was spectacular at the Marriott in Fisherman’s Wharf! The staff is dedicated to making their guests happy at all costs and with its convenient location; it is always easy to run back to the room if you need to. What a wonderful first experience in San Francisco.
