“One Of The Nicests Hotels I've Been To!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

My stay at The Mandarin was absolutely perfect! I was on the 42 floor with views of the Golden Gate and it was breath taking! The room provided a pair of binoculars which was awesome of them. The rooms were great, also clean and comfortable. The service was excellent!!! I left my glasses there, and they didn't have any issue sending them. All of the staff was very nice! My stay could not have been better!

Room Tip: Golden Gate Bridge View! Any floor is fine, since rooms start on the 38th.

I love Mandarins, they are some of the best hotels in the world. The SF Mandarin lives up to most of the Mandarin trademarks including extremely pricey. The service is as good as a hotel could possibly be, every single time. The location and views are absolutely fantastic. The rooms are nicely appointed and decently large but fairly un extraordinary (beyond the views). The food is overpriced and fairly average in quality as in most Mandarins, but the biggest dissapointment is the lobby. The lobby would be fine for a Hyatt but on the first floor with no windows, the small somewhat dark lobby is underwhelming for a Mandarin and for the price. If you don't mind the cost or if its your first trip to SF you can't go wrong with the Mandarin. The Service, location and views can't be beat and the rooms are pretty good, but value wise and compared to their other properties the Mandarin SF is just ever so slightly dissapointing.

We had a stay cation here over the past weekend. The experience really exemplified what a great 5-star hotel should be.

I booked a couple's facial for my husband and myself for 2:30 PM. It usually takes us 45 mins to get to the city. We left home at 1:10 PM thinking that will give us ample time to get there. However, the traffic into the city was horrible due to the memorial day weekend as well as the Giants game. When we pull into the hotel, it was 2:26PM. The checkin was extremely efficient. The staff sent us to the SPA directly, valeted our car, send our luggage directly to our room.

The location of the hotel is great: it's blocks away from Union Square where all the great shopping is around and also blocks away from the Ferry Building, where the freshest and greatest food is. And lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood.

Room Tip: You can't make the wrong choice. Any room will give you either great view to the bay or to the...

I attended a conference at this hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the property. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Great views, but it was quite a walk to get out and about.

I've stayed at a lot of Mandarin Orientals and this is by far the worst one. The staff is great, but the rooms are really old and the location is horrible. If you want to shop at Union Square, your probably looking at a 10-15 min walk. You'll have to walk the windy streets and through some undesirable local scenes.

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental on a recent visit to SF. Fortunate enough to get a good rate for a four night stay through a business connection. The rooms are very well appointed and all have great views of the city or the bay. What really makes this hotel is the service - simply first class!

One of the most incredible hotel views I've ever encountered! Truly spectacular, especially if you're fortunate enough to get one of the "Bridge to Bridge" rooms. From those rooms you get one view of the bay, Golden Gate, Alcatraz, Coit Tower, etc. and the other view of the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island and beyond. The hotel staff was top notch. We hired the hotel car and driver for a day of sightseeing and couldn't have been better treated. We WILL be back there and highly recommend it. Only slight nit is only one restaurant, but it was quite good with a GREAT breakfast!

Room Tip: Ask for "Bridge to Bridge" room for the best views!
