“Be prepared to be wowed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

The renovation of this beautiful hotel is beautiful. Our suite had two huge windows overlooking the bay, and with the hotel being from 38-48th floors, it was quiet an expansive view! The lobby restaurant and bar was full of financial district types, as well as hotel guests, and the service and food were super.

Room Tip: Request bay side

It's in Union Square, which is a decent area of down town San Fran and allows for easy access anywhere in the city. The rooms have a modern look to them and beautiful bathroom facilities. It's not exactly unique, but it's a solid hotel with great amenities.

It is true that first impressions are always the most important - ours was of Marianne on Concierge and Katherina the Front Office Manager - so welcoming and that feeling just continues throughout the entire hotel. In fact it was so friendly that we almost didn't notice that the lobby was being refurbished, a new bar and restaurant will await out next visit. We ate both breakfast and lunch at Silk's and loved it, service and food was just perfect everytime. We also had Room Service breakfast and lunch and I have to say I am not a great lover of Room Service as the food is never hot enough and invariably there is something left off the tray, but this was one of ...in fact probably the BEST Room Service experience I have had, well done. Our favourite part of the whole experience was the divine Michael on the Concierge desk .....or as we now refer to it the 3M's - Michael, Marianne @ Mandarin - then you have everything you need

Room Tip: We were on the 47th floor in newly refurbished rooms, huge with a very large bathroom, overlooking T...

The view was the most spectacular of any hotel I have been to. I would highly recommend the bridge to bridge view room (Bay Bridge and Golden Gate)...with a panoramic view of the entire SF bay area. Service was exceptional. The restaurant was ok...we ate breakfast there.
There was complementary membership to a local health club which was very nice.
If you like cigars, there is a nice cigar bar two blocks from the hotel. The Chinatown area was within walking distance so we had dinner there in a restaurant recommended/reserved by the concierge. Union Square was also within walking distance.
All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor corner room facing the bay

We only stayed in the Mandarin for one night on our way to Napa, but as usual, the hotel was flawless. The rooms are large with great views, the breakfast was excellent and the service was first rate. From the doormen, to the bell staff to the front desk, everyone was great. The hotel gets all of the small details right -- when returning in the morning from a run, the doorman rushes to get a bottle of cold water, when leaving everyone asks if we need help/directions etc.

Flawless. Service everyone in the hospitality industry should aspire to. Where gods go to improve their view. And where my wife and I didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I can't imagine you would be disappointed with any room at the MO.

This hotel was probably one of the most amazing hotels we've ever stayed in. Of course the view tops everything, but the room, the gigantic bathroom, the service and the delicious breakfast...wow. Read all about it in our post: /www.fishandfeathers.nl/united-states/a-room-with-a-view/

Room Tip: The brdges-to-bridges room is fantastic
