“Sadly Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

In contrast with the picturesque location and stunning lobby we found the usual Hyatt standards were lacking here. Our expensive room had reading lights on only one side of the bed, no make-up mirror and even on the 7th floor street noise intruded. The Eggs Benedict at breakfast were overdone, overpriced and tasteless.
On the plus side the staff was great, the fitness facilities top-notch and the valet parking fast and convenient. With so many great hotels in the city we would opt for somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view as high up as possible.

Dear SunGod21,

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear compliment on our staffs and you enjoyed the fitness center. However, we sincere apologize for the noise from the street construction and the quality of food from the restaurant. Your comment is very important to us and we appreciate you brought these concerns to our attention. We will review it with our Housekeeping and Food & Beverage team.

Best regards,
Tiffany

We stayed here during the America's Cup. Family of 4 from Australia. The foyer and lifts in this hotel is extremely impressive and certainly something that we will always remember. Fab location, easy access to all public transport. Loved the Hyatt club, very good value for family of 4. Highly recommend this hotel. Thank you!

My wife and I had a four night stay at this hotel since our last stay nine years ago. We had a room on an upper floor with a partial bay view. The room was larger than most hotels and
recently "refreshed".
The location was located in the middle of all public transportation and perfect for my wife and I.
With the 3 day pass ($22) my wife and I used the public transit system to visit most of the sights
in the city including the theater. The California Cable Line was at our doorstep.
We were especially impressed by the staff who were friendly, courteous, and helpful, especially
Joe and Erica.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors.

This place is in the middle of SFO downtown. Most rooms have amazing view but they are old. I stayed in one which faced the Ferry building. Rooms are spacious and the place has a decent gym which is positive. Due to the location they charge much higher rates. Good for stays if you are traveling on business and have to visit downtown.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing water or Ferry buildling

This hotel is perfectly situated at the beginning of the California street cable car and just minutes away from the Ferry Building and the piers. People at the hotel were very friendly and helpful (I had a flat tire on my wheelchair and the concierge found a bike shop nearby and called them up). Great base to get to know the city.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It's right in the financial district (Embarcadero) of San Francisco, a stone's throw away from all major office locations, and also the waterfront on the other side. It's right across the street from Pier 1 - Port of San Francisco from where you can get easy access to Pier 39/ Fisherman's Wharf. It's about a mile (20 minutes walk) away from the shopping hub of Union Square.

The hotel itself is beautifully appointed with a grand lobby and coffee shop. I especially liked the 'terraced' rows of lights that are hung down onto the lobby level. Beautiful!

Coming to the room, the room was kind of 'basic'. I was more used to larger bathrooms and more luxurious/ lavish appointments of rooms in hotels. The bathroom especially was tiny! This was my first visit to the USA and first stay in a Hyatt Regency. Other than that, I faced a slight issue with the laundry pick-ups, wherein even after clearly filling out the forms and keeping the laundry basket just inside the door for pick up, it wasnt! I was told that laundry pickup has to be explicitly requested over the phone. Strange, I've never faced this before. Leaving the laundry next to the door usually is enough!
