“Good hotel well placed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

This hotel is well placed for getting around San Francisco and is situated in the financial district. The hotel is very large with a high percentage of transient people on business or flight crews etc. providing you don't mind this it is Ok. The rooms are spacious and well appointed although we found the bathrooms a little small considering the size of the room. We had a bay view balcony room which was nice but costs extra. Breakfasts are expensive but there are plenty of options close to the hotel where you can get food at a fraction of the cost. The same also applies for lunches and dinner. If going to the airport from the hotel it is well worth considering a town car which is only $55 and very reasonable.

We were greeted, promptly helped at check-in, offered water and fortune cookies during check-in and a bottle of sparking wine was sent to our room as we mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary. We stayed here on our wedding night 33 years ago. The location is one of the best in San Francisco. The hotel is located on the Embarcadero (waterfront) with beautiful views and located close to many sights and activities. We stayed in a Regency Club room and the walk out deck looking over San Francisco Bay was amazing! The room was just average and in need of a good update. The bed was very comfortable but the furniture was worn and the bathroom very dated. We did visit the Regency Club which was a restaurant on top of the hotel with 360 degree views of San Francisco. It is now a lounge for those staying on the Club floors. Again, this area needs a serious update, the furniture and room are very worn but the late afternoon food service was very good. This property has the bones to be a five star location. A good update throughout will make it the envy of every hotel in town.

Dear Don M.,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! It is great to hear our staffs offered quick and efficient service upon your arrival. Sounds like you and your spouse enjoyed the beautiful bay view from your room. However, we do apologize for the dated furniture in the room. A cosmetic upgrade has been schedule end of this year, this will refresh all of our guest rooms.

Thank you for returning to our hotel to celebrate your wedding anniversary and we look forward to welcoming you back for many more years to come.

Best regards,
Tiffany

The carpet and bathroom is dating and in need of a refresh. The bed however was very comfortable and, despite the noise from the street below, I slept quite well. Fantastic location, steps from the Embarcadero. The gym was excellent, with a range of machines and free weights.

Spouse and 8 year-old child and I stayed here for two nights. We originally booked the Argonaut and glad we changed to this hotel instead (the argonaut is way out somewhere past Fisherman's Warf which we stumbled upon while walking to the Girahdelli Chocolate Factory). We had a renovated room side facing the bay and it was decent. The only gripe is that management should remove the dang television from the bathroom mirror!! If you are traveling for meetings and stuff, you might try their regency club ($60 per night extra) because you get some breakfast and snacks and stuff. If you're not pressed for time, then just go down below to the Ferry Building where all kinds of foods abound. I personally recommend the cooked spicy sausage displayed in the glass case at the grocery store there. Yumm! This hotel is easy to get to Fisherman's Warf by way of a $2 trolley ride just outside on the street. And the most convenient of all is if you land at Oakland Airport, you can get to this hotel for $5 or $6 by taking the Air Bart (a bus) to the Bart Station which has a Bart (metro) running to the Embarcadero Station which is just outside the hotel lobby. Beware, however, when we were there, the Bart workers had a strike!@## and the Bart was not running when we had to get back. Do take the ferry from the Ferry Building to Sausalito. It's very nice and yes, it earns it's 2nd place of wowness to Hong Kong's Star Ferry ride. Bring a jacket on the ferry because if you're outside (which has the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island), it get's quite cold for a few minutes. And this is July.

Courteous treatment starts from the moment you arrive in the arrival circle. A warm greeting awaits before being handed off to the reception desk for an efficient and warm check-in. The great location of this hotel affords easy access to various easy transportation methods or just walk to where you want to go. The views offered are absolutely amazing whether you get the city view or the bay view. The rooms are always spotless not only looking clean but feeling and smelling clean.

When I travel to San Francisco, this is the hotel I stay in, whether it is business or pleasure.

Room Tip: The bay views are stunning

I was not at the Hyatt Regency for a conference, but everyone else was. That is not a bad thing. The highlight of my trip was the customer service I received. I lost an important business document and between the help of security, lost and found, and the on site managers of the dining facility I was able to have it returned to me.
My room was neat and clean. My room did not face the atrium but the highway, it was not noisy at all.
My final comment is, (and this is no reflection upon the hotel) there is nothing about staying here that will make you feel like you are in San Francisco.

Green Features: I am all about the environment, but there were not enough towels.

The hotel is OK. Extremely well located specially if you are going on business. It is close to the cable car, Muni and all major public transportation. Restaurant is so so... It looks like a convention hotel where everything works great. Rooms are clean but too old fashioned. Great views!
