“Hotel next to Embarcadero / Ferry Building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

Great hotel! Beautiful atmosphere! Clean hotel and staff service excellent! Bedroom is spacious and the beds are so comfortable! They provide a list of complimentary items that you can call down to the front desk and obtain. I called for hairspray and they brought up a travel size within 10 minutes! Doorman was courteous! Bellmen held our luggage when we checked out.

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency twice and enjoyed the stay on both occasions, the rooms are clean and spacious! The location in the business district is is close enough to all amenities, its just a short walk from Union Square. The hotels balcony rooms have great views over the bay. The breakfast buffet has a great selection of good food and drink options which never disappointed. The staff are friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for us.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms have great views over the Bay

My wife and I spent three nights here and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. When we arrived at the registration desk after a long trip, we were greated with a smile and each given bottle water. Nice touch. We had booked a standard king bed room but upon arrival, we asked if we could upgrade to a balcony room overlooking the bay. They were able to accomodate for an extra $40 a night which was worth every penny. relaxing on the balcony in the evening afer a long day walking and touring was a welcome relief and the views were spectacular. We even got a great view of the 4th of July fireworks from that vantage point. I would also recommend taking the room with the hot breakfast included. Otherwise a buffet breakfast will cost you upwards of $55 for two. Room was spacious and the bed confortable. some amenities were dated but well maintained so no real issue here. Overall, hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby is an incredible space and during our stay hosted an Alcatraz exhibit celebrating 50 years of alcatraz's first escape attempts..

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony and with hot breakfast included.

Dear Michael B,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are delighted you and your wife had a great experience with us. Sounds like you enjoyed the beautiful bay view and the 4th of July fireworks very much! Our world's largest atrium lobby is a perfect place to hold any extravagant display such as The Alcatraz Life on the Rock traveling exhibit. Every quarter we will have a different theme and the holiday season is the best of all with the famous snow village and breathtaking decorations. You have to come back and see that for yourself! Hope we'll see you soon!

Warm regards,
Tiffany

Not even use of a computer in the business center was free - still took $5.00!!! ONly thing free was printing boarding pass at front desk, Breakfast buffet way over priced at $24.95! Pretty, not terribly clean - way overpriced. Rooms on 17th floor WAY too small...

This hotel was not my first choice but I'm so thankful that this is where we ended up staying! Originally, we had planned to stay near Fishermen's Wharf. I'm so glad we didn't; the Embarcadero is a much, much better location. We walked EVERYWHERE from the hotel. It was easy and convenient.

The rooms were nice; good size for a family of 4. Also the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. They were fast and detail oriented.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Especially the valet guys. So quick to help and answer any questions you had. But do know in advance - the valet parking is $61 / night! YIKES!

The only negative was the concierge's recommendation on dining. Do your own research and don't let him/her lead you down to Sinbad's (which the concierge did on our first morning there). It was disgusting and he should be ashamed of himself. The only thing I could think of was that either he was very, very bad at his job or he's getting a finder's fee from the restaurant. The valet staff did a MUCH better job. They lead us to some great finds!

There are at least 20 other very good restaurants within a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Lots of options!

Room Tip: Looked like it would have been worth the extra money to get a Club level room. Better views and acc...

I love this hotel. I've stayed here so many times, I might as well be living back in SF and paying rent. I ONLY stay here now because of the balcony and Bay views. Why more hotels don't offer this in the prettiest city in the U.S. I'll never understand. I love arriving and everything except leaving. It's like home and having lived in SF for a while, it's nice to feel like that when returning.

I want to give a shout out to Alan at the front desk. Alan is an incredible tactful and awesome man. He always takes care of me when I'm there and is definitely an asset to the Hyatt. To be honest, his service is another reason I only got to the Hyatt as well as recommend others to go there. Thanks for everything Alan (Luke the photographer)

The only negative is that I haven't stayed here in a few months. That's it.

Pro's: Killer refurbished rooms with balcony up on the 16/17th floors. The rooms are done in modern contemporary and when you have breakfast with that view, you know you're staying somewhere great. The gym is small, but a great place to get a cardio and light weight work out before going out. Everything is very clean, spacious, and the hotel customer service is fantastic.

Highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: You're at the edge of the embarcadero in SF. The Ferry building is just a small walk across the...

I love San Francisco and the hotel is one of the reasons. It's situated on a great area close to the trolley and bus station. You will never be hungry because of all the restaurants around it. There are also shopping centers close to it. It's probably 10 minutes train ride to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf which gives you access to all types of restaurants and shops.

The hotel itself is huge. They upgraded our room for another $40 a night with a view and a balcony. Big room and clean... very important. The concierge is so helpful. The Filipino girl in the shop is very helpful too. The hotel lobby is different... elevators, lights, water.

I really hope we can go back and stay longer.
