“If the Wharf is where you want to be this is a great choice.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

This is an under-assuming hotel with large, comfortable rooms, good natural light and great service. The rooms were very good for a couple and the bathrooms offered plenty of space.

The hotel pool and other facilities are a little underwhelming, but the service made up for this.

There is a decent breakfast place across the road and all the best aspects of the Wharf come together around this hotel. Downtown is easily reached by tram and the restaurants of little Italy are a convenient walk. Rent bikes nearby and ride over the golden gate if you have the energy!

Stayed 3 nights for a conference at the hotel otherwise the Wharf would not have been my first choice for location as I prefer to be nearer the city (and shopping at Union Sq). This hotel was busy because of the meeting and room not available till almost 3pm. Staff were friendly and helpful but have to say somewhat disorganised.
Were told they would sms when room ready but it was the bellman who told us our rooms were ready, as they were calling out for us, when we came back to the lobby from exploring the gym/pool.
Tried to order room service breakfast for the next day and were told to go online via room TV, I asked for the old fashion paper hanger instead, was given one and told she would collect from room later. Needless to say even though we called reception to remind them about our order at 11:30 pm , the tag was still at our door at 7:30 am the next morning. To their credit a quick complaint at reception had them very apologetic and we had complimentary buffet breakfast instead. Unfortunately I cannot say the buffet breakfast was really worth while if you had to pay for it. Very limited selection of the usual breakfast stuff and the fruits served were rather appalling and of poor quality. I could not finish what I had taken as they were that bad.
Rooms were decent sized, comfortable, quiet and we were upgraded to the top floor (5th) with distant views of the city. I had free in room internet with my package, not sure if because I was with the conference or because I had signed up with Hyatt passport before I arrived. Room key had a knack of not working and having to make multiple attempts at opening the door before they would work. After 3 days it really was a pain.
Gym was reasonably sized and pool looked inviting though small, but my husband wasn't able to use it that particularly warm day as there were like 5 noisy kids in it for the afternoon!
If you want to be at the Wharf this is probably a good choice and location, convenient for loading and unloading as it has its own driveway. It is about 5 mins to Fisherman's Wharf,
10 mins walk to Pier 39. The F trolley car could be caught about 10 mins walk away that will take you into the heart of SF. Or you could catch the cable car (Hyde and Mason) at the turnaround also about 10 mins walk, or the Hyde and Powell just behind the hotel.
Honestly, I would stay elsewhere next time, but that may be just me.

Room Tip: At the back of hotel may be better as street there not as busy as the front.

The wife and I stayed here for a week on vacation in Apr.& May 2013. These folks bent over backwards to accomodate us. The front desk will help with all your needs and then some. The housekeeping dept. keeps the place clean and gives out extra coffee as needed. Thanks Hyatt for making us feel at home.

Room Tip: Very quiet on the third floor courtyard side.

No complaints about the hotel. Everything was very good, I just couldn't give it 5 stars because I've stayed in other hotels with slightly better everything. A bit of a walk to the Wharf, but not too bad for 2 adults. Not sure I'd want to walk with kids under 12 years old though. A great Starbucks near by was a great way to start the day.

Stayed six nights on a business trip to San Francisco.

On arrival it emerged that the company travel agent had made a mistake and not booked my first night until the day after my arrival. This was immediately dealt with by the front desk staff despite the hotel being full. My trip could have had a rather stressful start, so full credit to the Hyatt.

The accommodation itself is comfortable; the room was spacious and clean with a big TV and a sizeable bed and there was a pleasant pool area which seemed to be popular with guests. There's nothing terribly unique or inspiring, but why should there be?

The hotel's best asset is the location - it's ideal for first time visitors to San Francisco with easy access to Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz Landing and the Embarcadero. The rates are rather pricey for non-business travellers, but you're paying for convenience. Watch out for the San Francisco hotel tax, though.

All in all, a good hotel experience and I'd be happy to stay again.

My 8 year old son and I spent three nights here and explored SF by public transportation. The location was so convenient - walk to Fisherman's Wharf and take the streetcar, cable car or bus to everything else you could want to see in San Francisco. We also got the breakfast package with our room and enjoyed the buffet, though it would be a little overpriced if we had been buying it separately. The room was comfortable and worked great for us. The finishes are showing a little wear and could have been cleaner (the floors, countertops, linens, etc. were very clean, but there were dirty spots on the walls, doors and cabinetry). It wasn't gross or anything & didn't really bother us, but someone picky about that stuff would probably be concerned. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back again. It was a great home base for exploring the kid friendly parts of the city.

Our room was clean, modern and quiet - included big screen TV and small refrigerator. Bed was very comfortable. Outdoor pool and hot tub were great. Internet should be included in the cost of the room.
Hotel is across the road from the Hollywood Cafe restuarant. Short walk to Fisherman's Wharf, trolly cars, Trader Joe's and Ross's

Room Tip: Room facing inside was very quiet - no street noise.
