“Good not Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

I agree with other reviews. It is a nice hotel, very nice staff and it was quiet. BUT, I have been to much better Hyatt hotels. We asked for a liqueur store and we were sent to Walgreens which only sells beer and wine. Nice woman but useless information. We both had allergic reactions in the room. Don't know if it was the products used or a past pet in the room? Restaurant was hit and miss. Fried green beans were awesome. Seafood pasta was just ok. Ribs were VERY overcooked and dry. Cookie was microwaved. Room service was very disappointing. Again, very nice delivery person but the food was bad. Don't get the breakfast sandwich as it can not make the travel time. Bread was VERY soggy and ham and egg were sliding off. Potatoes were cold. Fruit tray was good with lots of different fruit. Yogurt parfait was ok, looked pretty, tasted ok. Bacon was soggy.

Overall, the room was big and nice. Bathroom was nice. We were allergic to something. Food was not so good!

We got a good deal on Priceline for our stay here, over 50 percent off. Hotel is nice from the outside and first look. Location is GREAT. Close to piers, Alcatraz, and Ghirardelli Square. However, the maids didn't clean well...they only made the beds. I had to clean the coffee pot myself. The outside noise is loud but I guess that's what you get from being in a city. Would I stay here again? No. I think ill take the Hilton next door.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had to write about it. The hotel was clean and the rooms very comfortable. The staff was very helpful, they gave me a local run map, and arranged for a car for a very early morning departure. The sports bar restaurant was also very enjoyable, I had a great burger there, as well as the usual breakfast buffet. I highly recommend if you are looking for a hotel in the Wharf.

Room Tip: I choose King with an interior view.

We had a week in San Francisco last September with the family prior to attending a business conference in town and wanted somewhere central for all the attractions of San Francisco whilst suitable for a 3 year old. The location could not have been better for Fisherman's Wharf, we knew the area was the most touristy but that was exactly what we wanted. You could walk a couple of blocks to Pier 39, get the ferry to Alcatraz, hire bikes and cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and so much more.

The Hyatt staff and service was fantastic from check-in, housekeeping through to the Restaurants. The breakfast selection was great including a great selection for our little one, the colouring packs and the attention from the wait staff went down well.

We had skinny yet long room on the inside courtyard room with a rollaway bed for Thomas which was perfect as we could put him to bed early but still read, watch tv and not wake him up.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again next time we are in San Francisco

my family and I stayed here two nights 1/18-1/19 the hotel it is more like a boutique was very clean comfortable and cozy. The location is excellent and within walking distance to the pier. We got in late on friday and we just walked about two blocks to in and out burger. For all you hawaii people trader joes right around the corner. Also several rent a car agencies within walking distance. You just cant beat the location. The staff was excellent would like to mention Ronald Willis, Lashana front desk and also the three other ladies who worked 1/18-1/19 they were so nice and friendly you felt like they were old friends. Also our porter Iosefa really a guy who smiles and does his job really well. The restaurant with the breakfast buffet (knuckles) also have really friendly and nice servers. This was the first time for us in a hyatt property that was not a high hotel, but the ambience, cleanliness and personality of this hotel really gave it a san francisco charm. I would highly recommend this propert for all the reasons stated above, but also remember location, location, location. Our taxis always came quickly and renting a car was just around the corner (enterprise) and for the late night check in, in and out burger around the corner. Play tourist walking the pier shop at trader joes for gifts and book tours out of san francisco cant go wrong with this property. And most importantly the great charming staff and the clean cozy rooms make this place a must.

Room Tip: our room did not have a view, but it was still a good room

This was our first trip to San Francisco and after much debate we decided to stay at Fisherman's Wharf as we were wanting more of a relaxed holiday.

Upon arriving at the hotel we were quickly checked in by a friendly clerk. Upon entering the room assigned to us we noticed that there was a strong smell of smoke. I immediately called the front desk to advise them of this. The clerk advised that this was surprising as they were a non-smoking facility and she asked if the smell could be covered up by air freshener or if we would need to move. I advised the clerk that I was pregnant so I would like to be moved to a new room instead of just covering up the smell, the clerk immediately agreed to move us. Upon entering the new room I noticed that they had assigned us one of the "Pure" rooms which are supposed to be for people with allergies, this room had no smell and felt cleaner than the previous room.

While the rooms have been redone the hotel seems to be very old and is quite dark in both the halls and the rooms. The furniture in the room appears to be well used and in need of replacement already as the wood finishings were worn through and the dark wood doors were in need of being painted again. Although I believe the rooms were well cleaned it seems as though the age of the rooms and the furnishings prevent it from feeling truly clean.

The staff were great at this hotel. They called to see if the room was ok and later that evening sent us up some bottled water, with chocolates and some fruit. Every night they would also call to see if we needed anything and a lady would come around offering ice.

The location of the hotel was great it was only a couple of blocks from Fisherman's Wharf and the trolly's to take you downtown were right across the road from the hotel.

It is really too bad that the hotel feels so dark and old otherwise I would 100% recommend the hotel based purely on the staff.
