We arrived from the UK late afternoon local time. Check in was effortless and we had a room on the fifth (top) floor. The hotel is a few blocks back from the Wharf so there is no view as such from the rooms. The room was fairly large and had two double beds in it. It would have been better if there had only been one bed and a larger sitting area. However there were two chairs and a small table. There was a large flat screen TV, coffee maker, telephone, radio/alarm/ipod docking station, iron and ironing board. There was also a safe in the room. Storage space was adequate for a short stay. The bathroom was well appointed with a shower over the bath.
There was a laundrette (washer and drier) and ice machine along the corridor. The hotel had a small outdoor pool which was accessed from the 3rd floor. The bar/restaurant was used for breakfast which was the only meal we ate in the hotel. We chose to have the buffet which at $14 for continental or $19 for the full works we thought was good value. There was also a choice of individual items from the menue. The only drawback for me is that the bar formed part of the retaurant and there were several TV screens around the room. In the evenings the people in the bar tended to spill over into the restaurant when watching TV. All the staff at the hotel were very freindly and obliging. The hotel is a short walk from Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39. Local Transport, Street Car (F Line), Cable Car and buses are nearby so getting to Union Square is easy. I would suggest the F Line Street Cars as thet run every few minutes. The cable cars can get very busy later in the day so I would advise to catch one from Fishermans Wharf to Union Square fairly early in the morning. A 3 day pass at $21 dollars is good value and is good for all municiple transport. The pass can be bought at Wallgreens which is near the F Line terminus.
If I were to return to San Francisco I would definately stay at the Hyatt at Fishermans Wharf.
