“LOVE the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

We booked the room for one night directly with the hotel; we made a reservation for a hypo-allergenic room, which is something that they offer. The reservation process, of course, was very smooth.

At check in, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite - and my what a wonderful room! There's a half bath as you enter the suite, and a very large living room, consisting of large leather "sofas" and glass table, and a separate area with "lounge chairs," a smaller table and a large flat screen TV. There was a place to chill the wine, etc. And further into the suite was a separate bedroom, with a very comfortable bed, another TV, and of course a nice "walk in closet" and a large bathroom.

I place "quotes" on some of these words because I honestly don't know what they're called; I just know that they were very nice.

The staff were very nice; they remembered our name, and were very responsive.

We were in SF for a dinner with friends at Roy's (which by the way was terrific!), and we decided ahead of time to spend the night in SF rather than drive home that night.

My only comment is that breakfast was only OK. The buffet selection was lacking, and the pancakes just weren't good. I'd consider going elsewhere for breakfast.

As for location, it doesn't get much closer to Fisherman's Wharf. This was great because we left our car at the hotel and walked to Pier 39 early in the morning.

Stayed 5 nights at the Hyatt on our first visit to San Francisco. The hotel is very well located a few blocks back from the wharf, with shops en route. It is in a fairly quiet street, so although we werent facing the street, I wouldnt imagine noise was a problem.
Our room was very nice, a good size, and overlooked the pool. (not that we used it as the weather was a bit chilly for our liking - tho others did.)
There was no kettle, but there was a coffee maker which produced a reasonable cup of coffee.
We didnt eat in the restaurant/bar, but we did have drinks there and it was pleasant enough.
The concierge was good at recommending restaurants and places to go, and reception staff were always very helpful..

What a terrible stay. I'm a loyal Hyatt customer for years, yet this is the second time I've stayed at the Fisherman's Wharf location and had a horrible night's sleep. Most of the rooms are located on the busy North Point street with plenty of auto and bus traffic. Because we were on the 5th floor and the rooms aren't well insulated, we could hear every engine, drunk person and seagull outside our window. For the money, it's better to stay at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero which is a short street car ride to the Wharf. Please note for Hyatt Gold Passport members, this location does not have a regency club nor a good restaurant.

The Hyatt was in a perfect location as a base for exploring San Francisco. Two blocks from Fisherman's Wharf and right at the Cable Car turn around for the Powell/Mason line. I suggest going to the Wharf and for a cable car ride; both are touristy, but still quite fun.
The hotel staff were incredibly nice and upon check-in offered us a valet parking rate for the self-park rate (still $36/day, but that's what it'll cost in San Fran for parking anywhere).
The hotel room was nice, with comfortable beds and very clean, but it's beginning to show a little wear and tear. We booked this hotel because it has a pool, not many do in San Francisco, and the courtyard with the pool was nice and we swam, even in February. This area is starting to show its age as well.
We ate at the attached Knuckles restaurant and the food was quite good, with some nice wines.
Go for the AAA-rate with breakfast included and this hotel is a fair deal.

Just arrived home from a long weekend at the Hyatt, I spend alot of time researching hotels before travelling. You will not be dissapointed even with the perk of a great price on Travel zoo, including breakfast. We found all the staff very accomendating, not one issue. If you are travelling with a family of four, reserve the oversized room, lots of space. Fisherman's Wharf is really a one day event, but traveling to Union Square is easy, either by taxi or cable car. The cable car is expensive, but really you have to say you did the ride. Next time we will stay in the Union Square area.
There is a safeway store two blocks away if you would like to pick up grocery items, a fridge request at the hotel is a great help.
