“Be aware of this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2009

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April and we weren't satisfied with it at all. When we came there they didn't give us the room that we booked. Even though we had paid for the the room we wanted before getting there they said that they can change the type of the room and that they did not have any more of the rooms we wanted available. We had booked a nonsmoking room with a double bed, but when we came there we could only chose between a smoking room with a double bed or a non smoking room with twin beds. The price we paid was not little so we really didn't find this satisfactory. The hotel overall was not very clean and overall really not worth the price. The only good thing was the location. However we stayed in other hotels later on, and for almost half the price we had equal or better rooms than at this Holiday Inn.
We wouldn't recommend this hotel because you can do much better for a better price elsewhere.

This is a nice hotel. It has two buildings but I really don't see much of a difference. I stayed at the main building on Columbus ave, 4th floor which is a business level. This floor can only access by your room card. The staffs are nice and helpful. Easy walking distance to everything. As stated by previous reviews, i would not bother with the overpriced bereakfast. So many other choices just around the corner. Love the crap vendors at corner of Jefferson and Taylor. Would definitely stay again.

I'd have to say that our stay here overall was good. My only complaints were that the staff wasn't the most helpful or friendliest. Don't expect to get a cab from this location very easily. We called several different cab companies with no luck went down to the front desk to ask about a cab as we had dinner reservations and the lady at the front desk told us we would probably have to walk down to they Hyatt to get a cab. My husbands response was next time we will just stay at the Hyatt. My second complaint was when my husband made coffee in our room the first morning the coffee cups they supplied had been used and turned upside down with a clean new one stuck inside of it. That was a bit irritating. We usually left our room every day between 10am-11 and always returned to a made bed and fresh towels which was nice. Bed was comfortable and shower was really nice. Bathroom counter was a little small for us. When I made the reservations through Expeida I had read review and specifically ask to be in the main building in a quiet room and not the location with the Denny's. My request was accomidated but also possibly because I am a starwood member. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and left on Tuesday morning. This was just about the right amount of time to see everything we wanted to see and also renting a car to drive to napa. (1hour north) The Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39 is a total rip off so don't waste your money unless you have small children would would enjoy it. The cable cars are near by and I also highly recommend renting bikes and riding to the Golden Gate. This was a lot of fun and also jump on the Red Double decker buses. They offer you a two day ride anytime.

We didn't have high expectations but were pleasantly surprised by the service and room quality for the price we paid. The very pleasant desk clerk allowed early check-in and met all room requests. The rooms and common areas appear to have been recently renovated. The beds were very comfy with pillow top mattress and white duvets. The location is convenient to all the Fisherman's Wharf tourist traps and close to the street car and cable cars. A Safeway, Trader Joes & Walgreens are a few blocks away and convenient for purchasing snacks, drinks, etc. Bellman gladly checked luggage and arranged for cab pickup so we could spend a few more hours in the city after check-out.

Hotel was located very near the wharf and all of the activities. The street cars made it easy to get around. The room was very comfortable and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Only draw-back was the $47.00 per night parking.

This was a great place considering its location! We were in San Francisco for about three days and everything was nearby. There was a mall behind the hotel and as we were planning to drive to LA on the weekend, it was very convenient to find both Hertz and Alamo there, as well as a Wallgreens.
One can get to it from the airport by Taxi though there is a shuttle. I have to admit with the other reviewers, the hotel staff isn't the friendliest, but they weren't rude either. The room was nice, comfortable, airy and while our view of the pier was partly blocked by a nearby building, it was quiet which my husband assured me was quite important and something he did not find at the Hyatt Regency (where he'd been staying earlier for a business conference). Good value for money, I'd definitely stay here again and was glad I chose the Wharf area rather than Union Square.

Nice hotel, room well-maintained and clean. Reception staff helpful and knowledgable. Car parking expensive but convenient.

Excellent location near Fisherman's Wharf and well-connected for public transport & tourist buses.
