The staff reviews are no joke. The staff is unbelievable in customer service and just pure hospitality. This is a young staff. There are no career concierges here but they deliver hospitality, warmth and easygoing charm with effortless grace, from the desk to the porters and food service. The hotel has no kitchen but there's a wonderful coffee setup every morning with a lovely hot chocolate service - nice touch. Another charm is this hotel is dog friendly. Nearly very guest brought a dog and the staff bring their too. Pooches really lighten the atmosphere. The location is great. Several great restaurants nearby and the Bart and other public transport is within walking distance. On East Coast time, I was up before daybreak every day. The empty Ferry Terminal is enchanting in the wee hours of the morning, the smell of bread baking, warm milk, the muffled sounds from busy kitchens all fill that hall. It was a nice private hour for me in an otherwise swamped tourist attraction. Watch the commuter boats come in, then start your day!
Yes, the rooms are tiny. The deluxe rooms are slightly larger. I think the king deluxe is probably the best value if a small room bothers you. Oh, do not put the do not disturb/please clean the room sign on your door when you leave - its easily mistaken for just do not disturb, which means your room won't get cleaned that day. Nevertheless, I'm giving this stay the 5 stars. It's all about the staff and the hospitality.
