“Great Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

My husband and I recently visited San Fransico and stayed at the Galleria Park Hotel. Through online reviews and proximity within the city, we selected the Galleria---and they lived up to the high reviews! It is a beautiful, clean boutique hotel that is close to everything. We never needed a car and it was a pleasure to come back to just hang out in the room. The bed was comfortable, the sheets soft, nice furnished room and frankly it was a cool historic building the old Sutter Hotel. They even offer a really cool afternoon wine get together in the lobby. The best part however, is the staff. They were so warm, friendly and incredibly helpful. Whatever we needed or asked, they addressed with a smile and immediately took care of. Some of the best customer service I've seen in a while--and my family travels often. If go back to San Fransico, I will be making my reservation again at the Galleria. It was a wonderful experience.

Good location and reasonable price to value ratio.

On the negative side a fire/earthquake/tsunami drill test for the employees (so they said after), in the morning, was not so pleasant after a long flight and many time zones changes. Worse it was not announced to the customers, nobody went around for checking the evacuation was proceeding or if anybody needed help.
Even worse the alarm was kept loudly running for at least 5 more minutes after I reentered the building and cleared with the reception that it was a "test".

Kevin S, Director of Operations at Galleria Park Hotel, responded to this review, August 7, 2012
Dear Enr_2011 ,
Thank you so much for your feedback on your recent stay with us at Galleria Park Hotel. We loved reading that you thought our hotel was in a good location and reasonable price and a good overall value.
We are sorry to hear that you weren't notified of the scheduled fire alarm test. We made it a point to deliver letters to all rooms the day before the test in addition to leaving some letters at the Front Desk to inform guests of testing that would be taking place. I am sorry that you didn't see either of these forms of communication.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to provide us feedback on your recent stay. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Galleria Park Hotel in the future.
Best regards,
Kevin Scott

We found the Galleria Park was a very good location and having parking on site was a bonus. The hotel was comfortable. We had a room with two double beds and for a couple of nights there were three of us which was rather cramped-it was more suited to two people. Nice touch with a glass of wine in the evening in the comfortable reception area.

Could not be better. The hotel lives up to the 4 stars. Location is good near Market/Union Square, the rooms are spacious and newly renovated, It is the best possible combination of a traditional building totally up to date. However - what stuck us the most was the service - it was excellent. We stayed one night only but would definately recommend this hotel for pleasure and for business. Our car was quickly parked in the basement, our suitcases taken care of, all smiles at the reception, recommendation of 3-4 good restaurants in Chinatown + a drawn map. Next morning we checked out and our suitcases was again taken care of until we had seen the city + our car re-appeared from the deep. Last thing we heard was "our service dont stop at check out" - and it was all true !
We paid $ 199 for a family room - a bargain for this quality..

A friend recommended Galleria Park after having stayed there a couple years ago. She was very concerned that we would not like it since it was not chain with all the fancy amenities. Wrong! It was so cool and comfy, beds made you feel like a Care Bear floating in heaven. Staff was exceptional and seemed to love their jobs. The wine service was such a treat. Was there for business but had my young niece, a local, come meet me before dinner and a show and it was the perfect venue to catch up. Fireplace was gorgeous, best spot in the house.

Stayed in the Galleria Park for 3 nights. Had lovely stay. We were upgraded to a king size room which was modern, spacious and airy. The bed was very comfy. The complimentary toiletries were of surprisingly good quality. The staff were polite and very helpful. Overall, the hotel had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It's a 5 minute walk from union square, so is perfectly located for tourists like ourselves

I have stayed in this hotel 4 or 5 times now, over the last 6 years, and I always love it. It is an older building, like many San Francisco hotels, but It is well maintained, the rooms are cute and cozy, the decor eclectic, and there is a wine reception at 5:30 every weekday evening. It is in a nice location, and the rooms are pretty quiet. Plus, it has air conditioning in each room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to San Francisco.
