“Great Location. Not so great everything else.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

My wife Barbara and I chose this spot because it was near the Fisherman's Wharf area. We knew that check in time was 4pm but were very pleased that Alex at the front desk allowed us to store our luggage when we arrived at 2:45. Once we returned from dropping our car off we were able to get into the room which we found to be clean. We had reserved a room with a queen size bed but found a bed that was full sized at best with sheets that were grey from frequent use. Our view was the wall of the building next door and the windows of the neighbor's kitchen and bathroom although the elevator had a large poster reminding us that if we did not like the view we could "upgrade" to a room with a better view for more money. A bit insulting since we were already paying close to $200 per night. We had hoped to start our next morning by booking a city sight seeing tour on a double decker bus but one of the staff at the desk told us we were "too late" to do it for the next morning. We were also told all the rooms were sold out although later a different staff member told us there were several open. A bit confusing even if we had wanted to change rooms. We had the breakfast the next morning and found it to be ok. The eggs and sausage that were available appeared to be packaged and were just plain undesirable. Cold cereals, juices, yogurts, english muffins, and waffles were fine although one of the toasters barely worked. Fine in a pinch but The Home Plate on Chesnut St. (just one street over) served an excellent breakfast. The staff working the breakfast was very cordial and helpful. When we checked in we were given free WiFi sign in information although we were never able to sign in. We asked repeatedly about it and we were told that they were not experiencing any problems. When we checked again on the last day of our stay they told us they had changed the password and we were using the wrong one. A bit frustrating. We did walk down to the wharf the next day and booked our own sight seeing tour without any problem. Our stay in San Francisco was great. We found most people to be friendly and patient with out of towners. The public transportation workers were especially kind and helpful. All in all we found the Comfort Inn to be average with the exception of Alex at the front desk who was very professional. The location however was exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask about your view. If you don't mind staring into someone's kitchen across the way you...

We stayed there one night during our summer trip to CA. Simple hotel with friendly staff. One big problem: the WIFI was terrible on my floor. They had a few spots but none of them really worked. Otherwise it is a very good option but a bit pricey (over $200 a night) for a budget hotel.

Our Family stayed here July 9th, 10th and 11th. What a relief from the heat in the rest of the nation. Conveniently located, close to bus stops. Nice room with okay beds. Window were dirty and there was a lot of street noise even though we were on an upper floor. Breakfast was limited and the breakfast area was extremely small for the amount of guests. The hotel staff were wonderful! Desk staff were helpful with directions and tourist information and the housekeeper for our floor was very nice. I recently heard SF was the 4th most expensive city to visit in the US. This hotel is an excellent value!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor with a view of the bay.

My mom and I stayed here for five nights when we came for vacation in July. The rooms were clean. The staff at the desk were friendly and helpful as they assisted us with our travel questions. The staff answered questions about restaurants and which bus to get on to go to a particular location. For example, the nice folks at the desk provided us with the quickest bus route to the Golden Gate Park. The park is a long distance from the hotel, and the bus route make our plans for the day work for the best. Breakfast was always available at 6:30 am which is good when we had to get going early in the morning to catch a tour! We had a great time!

They promised a view of the Bay but the window was filthy. Everything else was just average and wouldn't really have bothered me but the yucky window was a big disappointment. And the downside of being on the Bay side it's on a the side of a very busy street traffic-wise.

Thank you for your review - We are awaiting our high rise window washers to perform our regular service - The ever changing weather in our great city makes this routine schedule challenging - Again, we thank you for alerting us to this issue, and hope you will visit us again soon...

Un- friendly Staff ! May be they are less paid or Over stressed with lot of Visitors! Very Bad communication. Dirty Parking lot with out lift to take Luggage to and from room. Staff on 2nd floor reception do not tell you to use lift for Luggage before parking Car in lower floors with congested way and turnings. Just O.k. Breakfast. Noisy rooms as road is on both sides. Creaky beds! Dirty toilet sliding doors without handles. But centrally located and convenient to travel, if you can bear other things.

Room Tip: Better avoid with family if you are not Budget traveler.

This hotel was great for one night stay exploring SF. Price for a standard room, pricey I thought but according to SF prices its good value. Attempted breakfast. Chaos . People everywhere. Nasty eggs ( flat pancake things) and grissle filled turkey burgers!!! Yuk. Quick coffee and was out of there leaving my chair to a poor Chinese family who looked stricken and lost in the mire of people! Room was big and clean. Shower was nice. Bathroom small . Coffee sucks in the room. We had a connecting door to another room. The people who accommodated the other room came in about 1.30am and were chatting and watching TV and ordering room service. One if them had a cold. I know because I could hear everything! Not their fault.... Its rhe hotels cheap walks and doorsJust shouldn't be able to hear everything , so needless to say, fairly broken sleep. Front desk were professional , chap checked us in early at 1.30pm instead of 4! Wifi was touch and
go. All in all, not great, not bad.
