“OLD, COLD and SMELLS MOLDY”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed at this hotel for two nights in Dec. 2014. Price is $250/night. Very old with many layers of paint must make it a boutique? Extremely small rooms. No A/C but then I was there in Winter. When I finally figured out that the heat in my room was not working I called the desk and was informed that they do not turn it on until 10:30 pm and then for only two hours. They did bring a space heater. I stayed on the 8th floor and the hallway carpet was covered with clear plastic sheeting duck taped to the floor (ugly). Other guests complained about paper thin walls and claimed that they could actually hear the sounds of people doing biological norms in nearby bathrooms. Nasty!

The staff were the highlight of this place. The front desk guys were super. The lobby is cool looking, the rooms are shabby chic, all very simple but hip. I really liked the restaurant. Valet parking was a reasonable price for the city. Excellent coffee in the rooms.
Happy with the experience. This hotel is more for those who feel guilty with too much luxury--I do not feel guilty so chances are I will not stay here again even though it was really very sweet.

The hotel has Comfortable rooms in an ok location ( it was a little bit out of the way for us) however the good side was that the service was brilliant. Our first room unfortunately was dirty - the bedding had a stain on it and the walls, radiators and curtains were dusty, however we were moved immediatey and without question upon complaining. It is definitely a 3 star hotel with reasonable rates for a city hotel. We wouldn't use this hotel again just because of location but I cannot stress how lovely the staff were and how good the service was.

Rooms are confortable and clean. Staff at the reception quite helpful and very nice. The Wifi is reasonably fast and free. Good value for money. 15 - 20 minute walking from Union Square.walking distance to Moscone Convention Center

This is a very old hotel in a slightly questionable neighborhood. Which make it a much better value than places even 2-3 blocks away. The rooms are excellent and quirky, not cookie-cutter. Soaps in the shower are gym-style liquid dispensers, but of excellent quality. Many rooms have ceiling fans (altho don't believe the hotel has aircon at all.) Definitely a lot of character. Won't appeal to all. Appealed to me. It is not a good choice if you have a car. (Actually, that's not entirely true: there's a muni garage on the corner of Polk and Bush where you can park all day for $14 or all night for $6...street parking isn't hard here at night you just have to get up early. Either way, far less than the hotel's valet.)

We stayed for one night to attend a concert at nearby Masonic Center. Staff was really friendly. Valet parking was only $40 which is good for the city. Rooms were simple clean design. Would stay here again. Only problem the elevators were slow due to construction.

This hotel is a little gem. It is full of character, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and our room (920) was very comfortable and quite spacious. The wine reception each evening was great - especially on nights when an employee turned musician. The restaurant is superb. Convenient location. Thoroughly recommended.
