We stayed five nights at The Carriage Inn, on the 2nd floor. I could not get a wi-fi connection on my Samsung S3 device on any single night. I spent upwards of one hour each day trying to get connected, I would hold my phone in different areas of the room, up high, down low, to no avail. The hotel advertised high speed wi-fi. All I got was a signal which never seemed to want to connect, and a really frustrating experience.
As a younger person, I always turn to Yelp and other sources for recommendations on where to eat and what to do in town as it was our first visit. Unfortunately, I was not able to do this. Moreover, I was not able to check my work emails. On one day, I tried the computer in the lobby, what a mistake that was, it was almost as bad (while there was a connection, it was painstakingly slow and cut out several times. It made a five minute task take me 30 minutes). I could not even connect on my wireless device while standing in the lobby!
After reviewing other TripAdvisor comments left behind, I see the poor internet / wi-fi issues have been raised with management at least three times before (December 27, 2012 , October 5, 2012, June 5, 2012). I would have thought that management would learn from this and take some action (the management responses seem to indicate that action has been or would be taken, but this is clearly not the case from my experience and frustration).
Management Team: Please take action to fix your internet problems. The internet is an essential part of life. Especially in a very technologically savvy city like San Francisco. All it takes is adding more Access Points and a better signal and this problem will go away from you. However, your inaction in solving this problem seriously flawed my experience and visit. I would not give you a 2nd chance, because this was a major upset for me.
I have never stayed in any other hotel with such poor internet service. Considering that you have sister hotels next door and across the street, it would seem to me that your wi-fi signal should be very very strong. However, it is extremely ineffective. I tried to log-on to all the other sister hotel connections, but none of them worked.
I also found your hotel is very cheap with the distribution of its breakfast morning cereal. You only put out two boxes at a time. If you don't have any cereal, the front desk person has to call your sister property to have 2 more boxes "delivered" over. Really? Management Team, why don't you be more efficient about it and keep supplies on hand for your guests?
Finally, I had asked the front desk for a band-aid due to a cut. The girl working the night shift said that they didn't have any. Funny, I would have expected a hotel to keep a first aid kit around.
So, Management, please (a) fix your wi-fi problems, you really can't afford to have more people complain about this issue, enough is enough, especially in this day and age, (b) put some more cereal boxes out for guests or keep some stock on hand, (c) get a first aid kit that guests can get a bandage from.

All of our properties have a first aid kit to assist any of our guests at any time.
