“Nice Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

I travel extensively for work, so usually avoid hotels when possible.
However my best friend scored a room at this hotel, which made it possible to attend the 49er game without the long three hour drive home.
I really lucked out as I understand they only have valet parking. One spot on the street was available and the meter was broken. Life is good.
Inside the entrance the lobby had an old world charm.
Once in the room upstairs, there was an entry way with a table and dresser, two beds with plenty of room around them, a kitchenette and in the bathroom a bidet! How fun is that? And a large bathroom to boot.
Plenty of room. The TV was no great shakes, but that's not why we were there.
A friend had given us erroneous directions to the Candlestick Park shuttle. Thank goodness we asked at the desk and caught the bus two blocks from the hotel, instead of a couple of miles away.
And if you get hungry, Pearl's Phat Burger was closed, but you can't go wrong with thai food. iThai is some of the best I have consumed recently. Fresh and plentiful. Try the crab curry if it's still available. And it is right across the street from Beresford Arms. Steam heat when it we returned.
Win-Win in my book.
And the Niners did. And will prevail in the Superbowl.

Decor may appear old but when looking for price for family of five it is good. Close to union square, service was good and staff helpful. Valet parking with car was also very good. Complimentary continental breakfast and happy hour was also an added bonus and cost saver. Great for price and convenient.

Only a couple of blocks up Post Street from Saks on Union Square, this hotel is everything you need for a very reasonable price. Ask for a renovated room on one of the upper floors, great views from some. Breakfast is fresh fruit, pastries and teas. Wine and cheese with nibbles served every afternoon. (Mostly) friendly and competent service. Loved it.

Room Tip: Room 709 was excellent, with Jacuzzi bath and great view!

Situated on a Post and Jones streets' corner, just three blocks from Union Square, this old hotel with its stately foyer and large 7th floor room with a kitchenette proved perfect for us, for our five day lay over and re-acquaintance with San Francisco. While the decor was dated (it's an old hotel) it was in adequate condition and clean and added to the ambience of the experience--especially the foyer's chandeliers. Our room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The staff were hospitable and helpful, adding to our feeling that we were in a nice place. Our only criticism was the included unvarying breakfast based around coffee and danishes. However, eating out nearby is easy and reasonably priced. There's no hotel parking. It has steam heating: didn't notice any a/c. Absent a room safe, we utilised a deposit box behind the front desk.

Room Tip: There's no double glazing, so street noise can be heard more in some rooms. Mostly, sirens, but...

Spent 3 nights in this very central location. Excellent access to shops and restaurants. Helpful staff with a delicious breakfast and afternoon cheese and wine between 16.30 and 17.30. Ideal for a short stay.

The hotel is located in an excellent location, within reach of the city center shopping centers and tourist sites, many restaurants around the hotel and luxury brands. Staff are kind and quality, spacious and comfortable rooms and poor breakfast but good. Antique hotel and very old fashioned but beautiful. Please note that Parking higher.

I absolutely love this place. It doesn't have the glitz or glamor of a Hilton or some fancy dancy resort but it is comfortable, spacious, friendly and is really close to all of the Union Square action. Went for the 49er playoff game and was delighted with the service and room. There is no better value in this location. As for the noise? It's downtown San Francisco for God's sake!!! It's not the rural Smokey's What do you expect? Besides, if you really want less noise, then request an isolated room. No big deal.

Room Tip: Ask for something away from the street noise. And please don't make this request at the last min...
