A trendy, compact hotel, the Palomar is located in an ideal spot on 4th Ave. just off Market Street in San Francisco. Our room was small and consisted of a king size bed with TV, table and one chair. The bathroom was adequate, and the closet had two comfy robes, one of which I used. The heating system was easy to regulate and kept the temperature steady.
Considering the location in the noisy city, the room was very quiet. We never heard other sounds. The lobby is small and chilly with the doors always open, even on the windy, cool day. Wine was served there every evening. Our son and his wife brought their greyhound to stay for the weekend.
The hotel staff was the friendliest that we have experienced, and the consierge so very helpful. The cost was on par with other medium priced hotels.
For a delightful, convenient stay in the city, The Palomar is a solid choice.

I booked this hotel through my employer's travel booking arm so wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly delighted since I love small boutique hotels instead of large hotel chains. The breakfast was not bad, but I was expecting better Chilaquiles for the Bay area, so I stuck with fried eggs rest of the mornings. The gym was perfect for my triathlon training needs, they even has a Schwinn cycling bike! The location is just awesome, the Moscone west was only a block away, Market street shopping is less than a block away, and I had plenty of restaurant choices in every direction. I would definitely stay here again. The service and care of the staff was very "Four Seasons" like. Thank you Palomar!

Room Tip: I was on the 6th floor (where the gym is) and it was super quiet.

Room was small but the staff was friendly. Great time at the bar. Does need some updating. Rooms need some love. We still had a fabulous time visiting with our friends.

Do a room on a high floor.

The manager was a great getting us a later checkout.

Maybe it's because of where our room was located, but whatever the case, we won't stay here again unless we are guaranteed another floor.

Only in San Fran for one night, headed back to OC from our PCH roadtrip. Hotwired a room, and ended up at Hotel Palomar. Checkin was a breeze, once we finally got there (traffic was a nighmare, and the Main Street where the hotels valet is located, is "buses only" late on a Friday night; it took some navigating. Our room was fine. Nice bed, nice shower; quite comfortable.

Not so comfortable? The fact that our floor to ceiling window stared straight into the dining area of the hotel restaurant. It felt like a zoo as we could watch all the diners chow-down/drink-up. And, of course, they could watch us. Moreover, The waitstaff mingled on the corner by our room (not sure if this space was a hangout, or if there was restaurant essential business going down), but it was a bit loud and unwelcoming.

The other direction, located just down the hall, was the main hotel bar. It was loud. VERY loud. Totally fine for those that want to join in, and have enough cocktails to drown out the din once they head back to their room. But, for those not looking to partake in the fun, prob not the best local.

I'd also wager to say, any room one floor below the bar/restaurant area is also probably not that great, given the upstairs neighbors can probably get a bit rowdy.

Service was fine, everyone was very friendly from check-in, to the valet. But the room location left alot to be desired.

Physical Location of the hotel is great. Easy to navigate the city from this spot.

Wish they would have rethought the layout.

It's my first time staying in this hotel ever but am so satisfied with my room and the staff from day one. The lobby is small but it offers lemon water, coffee and red wine depending on time of the day. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. I asked so many things but I don't see any irritating grin in their faces. The bed and pillows so soft, the bathroom is spacious! First time to see the bathrobe not in white but in leopard design!!!! I left my eyeglasses and Miss Claire of the housekeeping did not give me hard time at all. One phone was all it takes to send me my eyeglasses! Definitely will recommend this one fine hotel to everyone!!!

Green Features: Lobby is a no fuss lobby but very functional. No waste of space.

This hotels like most others in San Francisco is over priced, but we had a very nice stay. The room was very clean, staff was very helpful and nice, and the wine tasting hour was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would return here. It is located near great shopping and easily accessible to the train (Bart).

Room Tip: We had a room on a higher level, which was right on the street, but quiet.

This is a great hotel. All staff were welcoming and helpful from check in to our check out 1 week later.
Room was clean functional with good climate control.
Great extra touches like daily wine hour and a running group week day mornings.
Great location, walk to innumerable restaurants and high end shops
Small front reception area gives boutique vibe. No breakfast buffet only a la carte
