“Very pleased with our stay - Great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We arrived late and had requested a 2-bed room for 4 people for three nights. There wasn't a two-bed room available, so the staff was very accomodating and provided us an additional room for the first night until a two-bed room was available the next day. They graciously moved our things for us to the new room. The doormen were all very personable and attentive and became familiar with our family, making recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the city. The front desk staff was also very friendly and professional. The room was super clean and had contemporary decor and comfortable beds. The only down side is that our room was on the sixth floor above the restaurant on the fifth floor so we could hear noises from the restaurant kitchen. The courtyard on the fifth floor and was a bit noisy until 10 or 11:00pm, but did not keep us awake. If you prefer more quiet, request a room away from the middle of the building and not above the restaurant. The valet parking is conveniently located on the lower level and offers all day in and out privileges, but the fee is $48 per 24 hour period. A car is not really needed while downtown and we found that the location allowed us to walk to most popular spots: Union Square, Embarcadero, China Town, & Fisherman's Wharf - with the understanding that downtown walking requires some fitness for the hills. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, ask for the outer rooms that do not face the inner courtyard restaurant.

We loved the huge deep spa bath in the suite complete with goldfish and signature robes. Pity only one night and we missed the wine tasting for checking in late, but were given complimentary drinks vouchers to make up. The complimentary bike hire was much appreciated, allowing us a memorable bike ride on the Golden Gate Bridge as the morning mist lifted. Lunch at Sausalito then ferry hop back. Magic!

Room Tip: Go for a suite if you want a big bath tub.

Nothing better than a bike ride over the most beautiful bridge in the world.....and being able to return to the hotel and soak in the tub! Glad you enjoyed!

I am a already a huge fan of Kimpton Hotels, but this last visit reminded me why.
It was my Birthday, and I had arranged for a special room. I had stayed the previous evening at another Kimpton property, and the staff there had called ahead to let them know I was coming. They also made note to mention a personal interest of mine that I had been talking about earlier in the day.
While a beautiful hotel with a fantastic location is certainly what we all want, an exemplary staff is what makes it a 5-star stay. From the moment I entered the lobby, everyone was professional, but even more than that, genuinely friendly. Since they knew it was my birthday, they offered to help to make it special and they did.
A wonderful amenity was sent to the room that incorporated not only my personal preferences, but also elements from joking chit-chat I had with some of the front desk people. It made for a very special welcome.
While everyone I interacted with deserves recognition, I do want to mention Yesenia who was so friendly and helpful. And, of course, a special thanks to JP, who ensured it was a great visit overall!
I can't wait to visit again in October!

Room Tip: Higher floors away from Market St are quieter.

This is a recently renovated hotel appealing to the hipster crowd - the staff is dressed uber trendy but they are all very friendly and helpful.

The location is terrific, within walking distance to Union Square, shopping, theatre, and restaurants, and I walked to and from AT&T park (Giants stadium) without a problem (about 20-25 minutes).

Room was not big, but decent sized for a big city hotel. Would almost be considered huge in NYC. Very clean and recently renovated.

No coffee maker in the room but there is free coffee in the lobby.

Valet parking is $48 a night, though you can save money by using a nearby garage.

Only one major complaint. They have a new restaurant/bar/lounge on the 5th floor, part of which is outdoor and extends into the courtyard. We ate there and it was fine - a bit expensive but not insane. They did a nice job marketing it because it attracted a good crowd ready to party and be seen. The problem is that around 5-6pm it starts to get very loud, and if you have a courtyard facing room it is very noisy. It is advertised as closing at 11pm, but was open until at least 11:30 the night I stayed there. If you want to go to bed before 11, good luck falling asleep. I definitely suggest requesting an outside room if you have an early flight like we did. The street will be much quieter than the party deck.

Room Tip: request an outside (street-facing) room if you need to go to sleep before 11pm

Thanks for staying with us. We are indeed fortunate with the success of our new bar and outdoor lounge. The outdoor lounge has been a huge hit with the hotel guests and the San Francisco locals. We are currently looking at upgrading the windows in the courtyard to help minimize the noise penetration. We hope to have some solutions soon. Chris

Great location. Bathroom pocket door hard to open. Etro toiletries. Right near SF moma. But slow disorganized check in alas. Lovely design. Hotel starts on floor five. Get off Powell stop of Bart from airport.

I stayed here during Pride weekend and the staff assigned us a room facing Market Street so that we could watch the parade. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The day of the parade during the wine social hour, the staff had also made Jell-O shots. The staff were enjoying teaching older guests how to take them. The guests were having fun and appreciated it.

We came back from dinner the first night to a bottle of wine in our room as a thank you to staying with them over Pride.

The room was spacious and quiet. I've stayed in very cramped hotels and this one was only a couple dollars more a night. It's definitely worth the extra money to be able to enjoy the extra space in the bathroom and bedrooms. From now on I'll be staying here on every trip. Thanks for a great experience.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic! The friendly team members, welcoming, warm drinks on arrival, room was great, location was good also, a short walk from the main shopping area and brilliantly cheaper cost to the hotel we were originally going to stay in, which was on the main square.
Can't remember of the male reception staff member (looks like Daniel Negreanu) who recommended so many great places to visit but inparticular, my favourite little cafe there, Cafe Presse (?). We went there twice!
LOVED it here!
