“Well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Stayed 2 nights at the Nikko. Front desk staff and concierge were very friendly. Room was spacious and very clean ( room 2102), with great view of the city. The lobby is very nice and modern, but the rooms are a bit outdated. Well located near union station. Breakfast was good with a lot of choices. The only negative point is the fact that they charge you for the internet ( in 2015!).

Smart Japanese influenced 4* Hotel. So convenient for Cable car, BART, Civic Centre and Museums. Large room, huge reception/lounge areas, wonderful restaurant, great buffet breakfasts ($24 plus 'suggested' 15% service charge added to bill for buffet is a bit rich ).
Don't botther to go to the 25th floor to see the 'Bay Views'.....all built around now, so no view to see, in spite of the signs.

Room Tip: Ask for city view. We just looked straight at another skyscraper windows.

Service was absolutely terrible, they kept trying to tell me i had booked 3 rooms when i had reference of cancellation of the 3rd room, i was told i wasn't able to have fold out bed in the room even when i had email reference that i could. Only one girl behind the desk could understand and try to help me all the rest seem to not want to or didn't have any idea how to.
Room was very clean but tiny! We found this hotel for our experience quite expensive compared to previous hotels in San Fran Union Square area for what you get...don't upgrade to wifi package, if you do only do it for one room as it's the same passcode for every room. Overall experience really poor, only good thing to say is that it has a great location.

I visited this hotel due a conference being held at the hotel and I was excited to stay here. There are so many good things to say about the hotel: location, exercise room/pool, room comfort/desk with ample outlets, amazing beds, well designed shower/bathroom but the best thing is the service. From the door man/valet greeting me at midnight due to late night flight to the front desk staff interested in my needs while at the hotel to the concierge arranging a great dinner option with a co-worker. Five stars all around!

Stayed here for one night. Very nice lobby, friendly desk staff and the complimentary glass of wine was a nice touch. We got a queen room which was very small. But, the room and bathroom were clean, contemporary and tastefully decorated. Comfortable bed. A short walk to the Powell street trolley and BART station. Got a ride back the SFO airport for $50 flat fee through hotel transport (SUV) - comfortable and direct ride, so a good value compared to a taxi.

Room Tip: if you don't like small rooms, do not chose the queen room. We were on the 7th floor - not much...

I would like to say, up front, that I found the staff on the front desk to be extremely helpful and pleasant and that the location of the hotel was excellent (just a two minute walk to the Market Street terminus of the Tram, and an equivalent distance to Union Square).

Additionally, the room was spacious, clean and in great condition - with excellent views if you're on one of the higher floors.

The niggles were small but - in this day and age - charging $13.50 a night for access to the hotel's wifi seemed very small minded. I'd stayed in a far lower spec hotel for two nights before arriving to Hotel Nikko and even that had free wifi for the guests. Additionally, the room fridge with its sensors that will automatically charge the room if you even move an item inside didn't make me want to investigate. Finally, the bottle of water in the room (which I assumed was complimentary, as is the case in most hotels of this ilk) was $6.

If Hotel Nikko cut out these small things that give the impression of it being overly tight fisted then I'd have nothing bad to say about it all. With that said, it is a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: The higher floor rooms have some fantastic views across the city - definitely try to get a room on t...

The hotel was recommended by friends. You can't beat the location.

Checkin: I did an internet checkin to save time, but still had to wait in line. GSA was polite.

Room: Upgraded to a King. They put me on a low floor, not much of a view. Try for a higher floor if you can. Amenities are sparse. No clock radio or ANY charging stations. How 2005 of you.

Bathroom: HUGE, shower and tub, waste of space, would have preferred a larger room space.

Bed: AWESOME. Best sleep in hotel bed yet line ex are cheap.

Food: won't try it way too expensive.

Minibar: find a drugstore nearby. Minibar prices are higher than most. $5 coke (mini), $9 M&Ms. No way. Most hotels are getting rid of the minibar anyway.

Overall impression: Stay here if you need to be centrally located. Don't bother with the food, parking or other high-cost add on's.

They could use a bit of an update. Everything feels very '90s to me, except for the tablet hotel guide in the room.
