“Great location and experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

We were visiting San Francisco for a few days with another couple and chose The Tuscan based on location, price, and reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The location was perfect - just a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf and one street to the tour company we were using - and it was less expensive than most of the hotels in the area. The Tuscan was comfortable, clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the restaurant but did enjoy the complimentary wine and snacks one evening. Our room had no view and I'm not certain any of the rooms did but we were usually so tired after all day touring that all we needed was a comfortable bed and a good shower, which we had.

All of the staff were attentive but Katie on the evening desk gave us a wonderful restaurant recommendation (with a discount card) and Matt with the bellman service was very informative about the area in general.

I would definitely consider a return to The Tuscan if visiting San Francisco again and would recommend it to friends.

The Tuscan is an older hotel, but beautifully updated. The staff here were just wonderful - very helpful and friendly. There is a complimentary wine happy hour every evening from 5 pm until 7 pm. The rooms are comfortable and have mini bars as well as a safe. Very nice bathrooms with all amenities. The hotel is in a great location just a block from Fisherman's Wharf. The Tuscan is also a pet friendly hotel. We *think* that the hotel will loan guests bicycles, but we didn't realize that until time to leave.

We stayed here for two nights before embarking on a cruise. The cruise terminal is about four blocks away from the hotel. It was a wonderful stay and a great start to our vacation.

Great staff (Matt-concierge and Matt-bell services) who went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. Rooms are small but great location to Fisherman's Wharf area, Coit Tower and Embarcadero = mostly tourist spots/shops. View from room was a little odd (overlooked an apt bldg. and their deck) but again no real issues/complaints. Loved the nightly free wine bar from 5-6pm but they need to vary snacks. Pizza was good but not every night. Would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice hotel near tourist area.

An excellent hotel. The staff at this property (all of them, from the front desk and restaurant to the forecourt and cleaners) all go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is sociable too, with complimentary daily wine sessions in lobby from 1700 till 1800 promoting mixing of guests. Location is great if visiting SF for vacation purposes. Free WiFi worked well even when hotel was full. Lovely, reasonably priced restaurant / bar. Rooms clean and quiet. Our only negative observations were that our bed was almost soft enough to fall into the category of 'hammock' - could make the property unsuitable if this is a problem for you. And there are also quieter air-conditioning units on the market - again this may pose a problem if you're a light sleeper and don't like a hot room. Was also expensive on heavily booked nights but would definitely return.

A bit expensive for what you get. Stayed here about ten yrs ago and pricing was much more reasonable.
Maybe due to a high event weekend on Fisherman's wharf???Plus $50 a nite for parking. OUCH.
Nice wine + snacks in evening though.
Probably will not return.

Hi soifdawg - As I responded to your review on another web site: Thanks for coming back after a 10 year absence. It is more expensive to stay in the fisherman's wharf area and I'm sure prices have risen considerably over the last decade. Not only are we the top tourist attraction in SF, we are one of the top 10 tourist attractions in the United States. Being right in the middle of fisherman's wharf, you can't beat the location for shops, restaurants and all the activities near the wharf and around Pier 39.

Parking at The Tuscan is valet only with unlimited in/out privileges and the price for standard size cars is $50.00 plus tax per day. Our guests are not obligated to park on the property; in fact some guests find other alternatives at local parking facilities or find street parking as a viable option. We do suggest that parking on the street or at local facilities which do not offer in/out privileges may have some drawbacks and involves some risk. Of course, the ease, convenience and personalized attention of using our valet parking service are well worth the expense for many of our guests. In fact, our prices are very competitive with area hotels who provide valet service parking. We even offer reservation packages which include parking and this can be a terrific value. I actually suggest not even bringing a car to SF unless absolutely necessary as our public transportation system in the city is awesome.

Thanks again for returning to stay with us and we wish you safe travels and happy trails...

I stayed 3 days in July 2014 with my son. This hotel is very local localeted, walking distance from many attractions. I would definitively return... without a car. The hotel only offers valet parking for $50/night, that was a bit of a disapointment. Other than that, the rooms are perfect and clean and we have access to a nice gym accross the street.
