“Our girls get a way!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

We love this little place and always have a good time! The rooms are nice and we like to be able to sneak away from our functions to spend time in the pool too! I can't wait to go back....September here we come!

Hi Cheryl T - We appreciate the kind words, however, we have no pool. I think you might have meant your review for another hotel?

What a perfect location. One block from best breakfast place, the Hollywood Cafe, and the Gray Line tour company office and departure site. Short distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, cable cars. We even walked easily to North Beach restaurants and the Ferry Building Marketplace. All hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early and were immediately helped with an issue with the safe in our room. No view from our room and it always seemed to be a bit humid (poor air conditioning?), but it never bothered us. The bed/pillows were amazingly comfortable and we never heard other guests. Great sleeps all four nights we were there. I would not recommend the adjacent restaurant, at least not for breakfast. Too pricey.

I give this a 3.5 but tripadvisor won't allow a half. Beds are incredibly comfortable, pillows not as much. Rooms & bath are tight but acceptable. Very clean. Decor is really tasteful in both lobby and rooms, but not sure what the 'Tuscan' is except maybe the look of the courtyard. The evening reception is a plus (only participated once), as is the morning coffee/tea/hot chocolate (I prefer this available all day). Free wifi and free computer use. No workout room but they offer a one time use pass at a local club (for $12!). They probably should find space/convert a room for even a minimal exercise room. Desk staff is appropriately professional but some aren't particularly warm or welcoming, except for the wonderful concierge (don't remember his name). We had a 3rd floor street side room. Unfortunately, the window in our room was broken so it wouldn't open (didn't report it). The sliding shutters that cover the windows are a nice idea (and maybe an attempt at Tuscan), but only half the window can be uncovered at a time so the room is kind of dark. The street noise didn't bother us too much since we didn't have our window open. The noise from the door of the room next to ours was really loud though. Minibar fridge is nice to have, but a microwave in the room would be appreciated (more than 3 people opening the door for us). Parking is $50 (valet only), but if you get back after 7:00p.m. you can park on the street for free until 7:00a.m. and then it's only $1/hour until noon. This is not at all advertised but when I couldn't return my rental car a kind valet took pity on me and quietly mentioned it. No problem to get a late checkout. We were also able to leave our bags while we finished up at Ghirardelli Square. Frank the bellman was very helpful. All in all a good stay but pricey for what it is (but it is Fisherman's Wharf). With so many options we will probably try somewhere else next time for variety.

Room Tip: If you want quiet either request a high floor on the street side or a courtyard room. Trader Joe'...

The rooms are small, but the location can't be beat for a family making a first-time visit to SF. My kids loved the hustle and bustle of the wharf, and riding the cable cars, which are just a block away. Staff was very good at helping us get our bearings and plan our time.

Note: Parking is $45/day extra. I didn't realize that when I booked my trip.

Tip: You can buy cable car passports in the lobby, which is convenient.

We just completed a two night stay at the Tuscan Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary. The room was terrific and the service oustanding. There was a slight glitch with our room when checking in and the front desk was friendly and accomodating. We asked for some extra pillows and they delivered them in a few minutes.

The plan was to arrive in SF earlier in the day, enjoy the hotel and see some sites before hitting the airport the next morning. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until very late due to traffic. By the time we got to the hotel, we were tired and hungry however the staff at the hotel and the hotel itself was a remedy for sore and tired heads. Very beautiful and comfortable rooms - the bed was excellent.

The next time I visit SF, I'll be sure to stay here...

PS nice to see the manager responding to reviewer's comments on this site.

I hosted a group of classmates in San Francisco and we stayed 4 nights at the Tuscan Inn. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service, comfort, and location of this hotel. I will definitely recommend it to future visitors.
