“An OK no frills motel. That's it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

This place has plenty going for it. Location is great, in a good neighborhood (Hayes Valley) and close to all that downtown has to offer. Close to Bart and Muni services. The room was clean, although furniture, carpets and furnishings are quite old. However it all worked, including wifi.
On the negative side, some but not all of the staff were plain miserable, even rude. The breakfast was poor - had some yellowish water one day that was supposed to be juice. The toast was OK but you can't really go wrong with that as you make it yourself. I turned up for breakfast at 7.05 and the place was locked up - as I tried to open the door the ignorant member of staff didn't acknowledge my presence. I just had to come back later for my yellow water. McDonalds was a better option for breakfast.
Top tip is to avoid the Double Decker burger joint on site. It didn't seem to be that clean and had no draft beers in spite of advertising them in their menus and neon signs! The staff there were less than friendly too!

We stayed two nights. It was delightful and a good value for the price. Clean, quiet, comfortable and close to the event. This property was suggested by the airline travel agent because of its proximity to Davies Symphony Hall. I hadn't stayed at a Days Inn since my parents took us kids on vacation in the '70s. After reading reviews on TripAdvisor, I booked it. Thanks TripAdvisor! I knew exactly what to expect. The "Miner Forty-Niner" feel is very welcoming. Old building but solid. More than just basics - refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and easy parking in a tiny lot. Plenty of excellent restaurants, shopping and entertainment just around any corner. Hayes Street Grill! Max's by the Opera!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room over the office. It was so quiet!

We just had 1 night and came in quite late; had to ring the bell for reception. Room was clean and close to pier and city. Perfect for one night. Breakfast is nothing special, but we enjoyed a cop of hot tea before heading of.
