“Cozy place, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Nice little place that quickly fills up after 6. We had sushi and an excellent spicy seafood salad. We didn't have the chance to try the ramen, but it looked pretty good as well.

“Mediocre ramen”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

Went to high hopes, but was disappointed by the Shoyu Ramen. Noodles weren't springy, and the most disappointing was the hard boiled eggs, as opposed to the traditional ajitsuke tamago, soft yolk eggs.

Will not be repeating.

“very good Japanese food at a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014 via mobile

We tried this place out because it was nearby. The food was very good, and very reasonable. Entees start at under $10 for dinner (I had tonkatsu with rice, salad and miso soup for $9.50, and it was delicious). One warning: it is VERY small - we got a tiny table for 3 of us and by the time we were served there was a line out the door.

“Best Ramen I've Had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Ate dinner here during a trip to SF. We went fairly early (6PM) so we didn't have to wait to get seated. By the time we left, a line started to form outside. I've heard locals say they've had to wait over an hour to get seated.

The ramen was fantastic! I ordered the katanaya ramen with salt flavor. My wife ordered the same with miso flavor. The sliced pork, fried chicken and dumplings were great. I will definitely go back.

Note: This is a very small restaurant so it's tough if you have small children or babies. Luckily, we did not take our stroller with us since there would not have been any room for it.

“ramen, duh.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Best ramen, hands down. My husband and I came here TWICE during our San Fran trip in Sept 2013 and twice during our first trip to San Fran May 2013. Delicious. Almost always a line at lunch time. Thank goodness we were on Houston time so we always were right at the door at 11:30am hahah. We love spicy food and the spicy fried chicken ramen (which miraculously stays crispy in the soup!) never disappoints. We tried to venture out and try other ramens on the menu but that is my absolute favorite and I have ordered it everytime we came back. Must try if you love ramen. Great sushi as well! Very casual.
