“Great food, reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We had a wonderful meal at Perbacco. The papadelle with short ribs is amazing. The atmosphere is lively and a bit loud. The staff is very knowlegeable and friendly.
I would highly recommend an evening a Perbacco.

“Goes on my permanent list for San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

A great restaurant with perfectly sized proportions. Loved the food and loved that you could order smaller portions. My husband and I both had half portion entries and an appetizer - more than enough with desert. The staff was great, even moving us from upstairs (which I didn't like) to downstairs. The open kitchen was well done, you could actually see what was going on without adding noise. Don't know how they do that! They could up their wine list, this is San Francisco after all.

“outstanding Italian fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

One of the best Italian up scale eateries in the City. Had a fabulous meal there Feb. 23. Our waiter was very helpful with correct wine pairing and on the best pasta to order. The half portion was enough for an entree plus appetizer. Their roasted pear salad was really good. Pasta filled with acorn squash was so good, I was wished I had ordered the full order.

“An exceptional place to eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

As you enter your senses are sent to another planet. The decor is beautiful and contemporary, the staff is hip and smiling, the smells of delicious food - amazing. It was a fun and memorable afternoon of dining in SF.

“Outstanding to ordinary, but enough stunning items to warrant a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Yes, they have handcut pasta, gorgeous burrata and house cured salumi, but don't think 'Italian' in the American expectation. More California cuisine...the burrata appetizer with artichokes was creamy, roasty...divine (I didn't share!) and my husband loved the salumi (see pic) which was artfully displayed and varied. Definitely not your basic salami and proscuitto.

My husband had the pappardelle with short rib ragu and I wish I had chosen that as my butternut squash ravioli was underwhelming (altho the pomegranite seeds were an interesting touch. The desserts were actually stunning - the caramel gelato with sea salt and the chocolate heavenly 'thing'.

Yes, the room has a gorgeous old brick wall, but the rest of the space is rather generic and a bit loud. Service was ordinary - except when they overheard it was my birthday and surprised us with gorgeous meringues (on a plate with Happy Birthday written in the obligatory chocolate script).

I'd go back because there were several more intriguing items on the menu I wanted to try!
