“Top Notch Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We loved this hotel.
*location, room, service, it has it all... almost.
The location is walking distance to The Financial District, Union Square and Chinatown and a few blocks from the cable car which will take you to the Wharf.
The room, we had a suite, was spacious and comfortable. Only drawback was lack of a view (we looked into another building... creepy) We felt like we were in a hole with no windows because we couldn't open our curtains due to feeling like we were constantly being watched.
The service was top notch... Oliver felt like a personal friend. He was genuinely helpful and anticipated our needs before we knew we needed him. He suggested wonderful restaurants, parking tips, sightseeing info... the list goes on and on. The front desk was pleasant and the bartender made wonderful drinks.
Loved the roof top patio... a little difficult to find but worth the walk up the stairs from the 10th fl.
We will definitely stay at the Orchard Garden the next time we visit SF!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front of the building or the Chinatown gate side as to avoid close buildings l...

Green Features: Loved the recycle bins in the room! It's nice to see that the hotel goes to such lengths to help save the environment.

Thank you so much for the stellar review. Although I am very pleased to read you enjoyed your stay, I apologize the view was less than desirable. Our property was built in 2006 on a vacant lot next to some tall neighboring buildings.
I am thrilled Oliver and the front desk team we were able to make your stay more pleasurable. I am extremely fortunate to work with such an enthusiastic team.
All of us here look forward to your next San Francisco visit.
All the best,

Stayed here for two nights, we had booked a double room - two beds one for me and one for my 16 year old son, when we arrived they did not have a double room for us and "upgraded" us to a suite which meant one king bed and sofa bed for my son, whcih was much less comfortable for him. Staff did not prepare his bed so when we came back from dinner we had to make up his bed and there was only a blanket and no duvet so he was cold. The next day we asked for a duvet but they only managed to produce another blanket.

I am so sorry for the shortcomings you experienced during your recent stay. Unfortunately someone someone was unable to checkout making your room type unavailable. We did our best to accommodate you and your son but I also feel it could have been handled better. Not preparing sofa is inexcusable and I apologize for that. I am not sure if there was a miscommunication, because we have plenty of extra duvets for guests that are not used to the cool San Francisco weather. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss further. I would be more than happy to personally take care of any upcoming visits.
Kind regards

Family of three we stayed here for five nights. Room was bright, clean and very quiet. Outside noise was minimal. Eco theme is great. Housekeeping service efficient but not intrusive. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful with a lost case courtesy of baggage handling at Newark! Good size room with two double beds and sofa. Great view of bush street. Room was 810. Would recommend. Convenient for all of the city. We got everywhere by public transport fine from Union square just a few blocks away. Big bus tour picks up opposite the hotel outside the Triton. Location means that it feels safe of an evening. Cafe de la Presse or Starbucks across the road for breakfast. Turn left and walk down Market St for bagels from Noah's. Would recommend original US restaurant, Fog Harbour and Hollywood Cafe for meals see trip advisor reviews. Great market in the ferry building don't miss it. If you are planning Alcatraz do book in advance. It sells out quick especially in summer. Cable car is fabulous. F line tram not to be missed.

Room Tip: Room 810 worked for us.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us for your San Francisco vacation. It sounds like you got a lot done and got see many of the sites. I hope the three of you had the chance to visit Alcatraz. It is an interesting tour, probably the only prison people want to go to. The Ferry Building is one of my favorite places, great farmers market, eateries, shopping and oysters.
Missing luggage is never fun, I am pleased to read the front desk team was able to assist in getting it back to you.
All of us here are thrilled to hear you and your family enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you all again.

Stayed there for a week. Friendly staff, clean rooms and bathrooms; they clean twice a day.
I could say it is located in the heart of SF. Right next to Chinatown Gate, few blocks from Union Square, and Market Street, and Embarcadero.
Nice and quiet at night, for good sleep.

Green Features: Love the way, the room card controls the electricity

I've stayed here many times over the years and something seems to have changed. They used to have great coffee downstairs for guests in the morning but that's gone. The good breakfast buffet seems to be gone too, at least it wasn't there when we stayed. They have added strange Chinese-restaurant type of design elements in the lobby and elevator areas, it just looks weird since the overall design of the hotel is "green", environmentally friendly and "natural". But, maybe they decided to give a tip of the hat to their location, right next to the Chinatown Gate. The rooms are still great though. Just remember that if you are getting a room with two beds, they are double beds, not queens or kings so they are pretty small. The service is excellent and the rooms are quiet and clean.

Thank you so much, we truly appreciate your feedback and loyal patronage. All of us here hope to continue to be part of your home away from home. Although I am pleased to read you enjoyed the breakfast buffet, I hope you had the opportunity to try the new menu, the French Toast is my favorite. As for the Asian influenced decor, they are items from our owners personal collection. Despite the small changes I am thrilled to hear the service is still excellent. We strive to make everyone's stay enjoyable, I feel fortunate to work with such a passionate team.
Thanks again and we look forward to your return.

The location is excellent, half a block from Chinatown gate, central to all the downtown. The hotel is in the middle of the block, so it is a smaller hotel scale wise. The rooms was lovely and the bathroom very nice. It is on the small side but the big windows make it feel more spacious. The workout room is odd, very small, no windows and just a couple pieces of cardio equipment.

We were there for a Saturday night and were able to get street parking out front for the overnight and saved $50 on parking. Everyday but Sunday the meters are running full force.

The location for this hotel cannot be beat. Many people seem to like to stay at the Fisherman's Wharf area. That is a mistake. It is convenient to all the places around Fisherman's Wharf but that is the touristy area of San Francisco and you are also fully at one end of the city. Orchard Garden Hotel is right on the edge of the Financial District and a few doors down from the Chinatown gates. It's also close to some popular bus routes for accessing other parts of the city- including Golden Gate Park and Haight-Ashbury. The trolley stops are fairly close as is the electric train that takes you to Fisherman's Wharf area. BART also stops about 3 blocks from this hotel making it very convenient for the airport.
As for the hotel itself.... it is very clean and service is great. There are no extras with this hotel though. There is no continental breakfast or any deals. But, you get a straight price for a very nice and clean place. The concierge was very attentive and had some good recommendations for us that we really ended up enjoying. They have a doorman at night for safety. Although, to be honest, I never felt unsafe at all in this area of town. We got the King Suite and it was plenty of space for us but it wasn't what we usually call a suite. It was a standard size hotel room with a longer hallway to the door with a nice sized closet and bathroom. So, it was larger than a regular hotel room but not really a suite with an extra living room type space at all. We stayed for a week and felt like we had plenty of space for the 2 of us. The hotel does have free wifi and a newspaper for you daily. They also have a refrigerator in the room as well as a coffee maker. Not all the rooms seem to have windows so if that is important, you may want to ask. This is a "green" hotel and we really appreciated that they had a collection system for paper goods, bottles as well as the regular trash can. They also have other green initiatives like only changing linens as needed and not everyday. I'm sure the website has more about this. We like that. They do have a restaurant on site. We did not eat there as it was a bit more expensive than we wanted to pay for a hotel restaurant. There are 3 very good breakfast places within a block radius and multiple places for lunch and dinner right nearby. The North Beach area is very close for nightlife. Oh, and there is a workout room and a business room.

Room Tip: Check to see if there are windows before booking. Some rooms do not have windows. Also, this is an...

Thank you so much for the taking the time to share your experience with us at the Orchard Garden Hotel, we truly appreciate the feedback. I tell people all the time, there is no need for a car in San Francisco. I am pleased to read you were able to see most of the sites and took advantage of the public transit. It is definitely an easy and economical alternative.
I would to also thank you for commending us on our environmental conscious efforts. We have recently set a new goal to reduce the amount of waste that goes out. It may be challenging, but I believe we will be to achieve it with everyone’s help.
I am glad the room was to your liking; our Junior Suites have the most square footage of the rooms. I apologize if there was any confusion in the room description. I am also happy to mention all of our rooms have windows. Yes some views are better than other but they are there.
Again, thank you for the very kind review and we hope to see you again soon.

Best,
