“A bit pricey for pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2012

A bit pricey for pizza. The dining room is a joke, but who eats pizza at the restaurant. OK for takeout.

“Good pizza and Italian dishes at a good price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

We have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. It has held up well over that time. It is not a top end San Francisco restaurant but it is consistently good. Pasquale used to appear every day, but we have not seen him for years.

The service is prompt and efficient and the wait for food to arrive is short. The wait staff is usually attentive, except when the staff is short and the crowds are large.

Our favorites are the pizza and the minestrone soup, though all the food we've ordered over the years has been good.

The restaurant itself is all right, nothing fancy. The tables are plain and the dining areas require you to go down steps.

All in all, the restaurant serves good food at good prices.

“Excellent Food at Pasquale's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2005

First, I should begin by saying I did not sample the pizza, which is in the small entryway just before the main part of the restaurant.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let me tell you that I've eaten at a lot of Italian restaurants in San Francisco, including in North Beach, and Pasquale's is on my list of the top 3. Their wait staff is clean (very), friendly and attentive (without fawning), and they give the impression that they are experienced, well-trained, and they all work well together. The food is simple Italian fare, but all prepared just right. Try the antipasto salad (it's very big, but also very fresh and tasty). The minestrone soup is the best I've EVER had. The ravioli was cooked just right, the sauce rich and red, not watery. Presentation of the food is simple and clean, not artsy. It's basically "home cooking." Everything came to the table piping hot and fresh, with a very short waiting period, despite the fact that they were very busy.

I highly recommend this restaurant. I will certainly return.
