“Best place for Irish Coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Great place for Breakfast too. I've been here for several business after dinner coffee and more. Always a favorite regardless of the parking challenge. Near the wharf and a great level of service to all their patrons.

Order a couple of coffees. Relax and walk to the wharf and enjoy the night.

“Irish Coffee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

The best Irish Coffee ever! This is what they are famous for. I did not know that this was the home of this drink. It was fun to watch them line up the glasses and then produce them so fast. Went here twice to get one of these drinks. They are really great about giving you the recipe too. You can even go next door and purchase the glasses for a very reasonable price. It is also located in a wonderful place close to the trolly and many other things to see.

“No trip to SF is complete without stopping in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Every visitor must catch the Hyde Street cable car and ride it down the hill to the corner of Beach & Hyde where the always lively Buena Vista Cafe is located. It's a perfect launching point for your tour of Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square. Even if you decide not to eat here you have to stop in to watch the bartender carry out the decades old ritual of preparing a line up of Irish Coffees. You won't be able to resist ordering and enjoying one yourself.

“bartender was very rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We went to the Buena Vista for lunch. We had been several times for their Irish Coffee, which is always worth the trip. It was crowded when we arrived, so we had a seat at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender, who was identified on our check as P. Nolan, was extremely rude. When he couldn't understand my wife's order, he asked her to repeat it, then mocked her when repeated her drink order. When we asked if we could place a food order, he glared at us and said "No Food at the Bar!" Fortunately, a table opened up and we were able to get away from this man.

“Irish Coffee and Cable Car Watching!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We came here for lunch and the food was pretty good. Nothing fancy, what you would expect for bar food, but nonetheless it was good. The Irish coffee was delicious! My husband and I aren't big whiskey fans, but we LOVE coffee, so we figured we would give it a try. We both really liked it, although as we kept sipping I had to give the rest to my husband.....they don't skimp on the whisky! It's a good atmosphere and we had fun watching the cable cars make their way up and down the hill right outside.
