“Kind of touristy - but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We ate upstairs at the restaurant - to get our sourdough and clam chowder on ... it was delicious don't get me wrong - but you are definitely dining in a tourist heavy area. Its not bad.. just a different vibe that I like to avoid when I travel.

Good for Families!

“Delicious food - slow staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

This was my second time visiting the famous Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe. I absolutely love this bakery - great location, delicious food and coffee and very enjoyable to watch the bakers working away. However, I found the staff to be very slow and careless with no matter of urgency, which was a shame. Would not recommend having breakfast or lunch here (even take away), if you are rushed for time.

“Not as good as Chowders!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We stopped here for lunch to try their version of the sourdough bread bowl filled with clam chowder. We waited in line for about 10-15 minutes and ordered a bread bowl with clam chowder and a cup of clam chowder, which incidentally was only a dollar cheaper than the bread bowl filled with soup. After ordering we moved to the area where they were serving with about 50 other people and it felt crowded, cramped and chaotic. We finally got our food and had to wait for a table to open up so we could sit down and eat. When we did we were disappointed that their soup wasn't nearly as good as the soup we get from Chowders, but ate it anyway. If you're looking for really good clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and really good service, move on down to Chowders instead.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

This is a great place to go just to look at the sour dough going around in the baskets and the different shaped breads. We had the fast food sour dough and clam chowder it was lovely never seen soup served in a bread loaf before ,great price great taste. We went into the bakery and bought a choc brownie for dessert! Mmm
