“Top notch hotel and bar scene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Very well-located across from the Ferry Building (Sat. farmer's market, restaurants) and Pier 1 on the Embarcadero. We walked to modern art museum, china town, and union square from here (all about a mile each/20 mins). Nicely appointed rooms, linens, Fresh products etc and helpful/pleasant staff. You'll pay $$$ at the restaurant, but it's packed with an interesting mix of professionals and well-heeled travelers. Happy hour is from 3-6pm and you can get a $5 glass of wine. Complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby and chocolate on your pillow. Always a cab available. Would recommend to a friend.

Room Tip: If you've got the money, I hear the views of the bridge are spectacular. The family suites are v...

Waterwings13:
The SFMOMA is a nice walk from Hotel Vitale, and the right near Yerba Buena Gardens as well. Be sure to ask the concierge on your next visit, as there are plenty of other museums to see in the area. I am glad to hear that your experiences were first-rate with the accommodations and staff, it is rewarding to be able to pass along that kind of praise. Americano does have a healthy mix of locals and travelers—especially during happy hour.

This is a lovely Hotel right on the Embarcadero near the ferry wharf, so it is central to the City, the financial district, Chinatown and easy tram or bike ride to Fisherman's Wharf. There is a bike hire place just next door, as is the tram museum and the Embarcadero Farmers Market is just across the road.

The decor is very nice and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The bed and linen were super comfy. The staff are very helpful...and the cleaning staff were always very cheerful and seemed genuinely happy to see you!

Quite expensive, but not too bad when considering the quality and location of this property. Would definitely shell out the extra dollars to stay here again though.

Room Tip: We were on Mission street, so no views....but good views to be had on the Embarcadero side of the bu...

I am so glad that you took advantage of the nearby bicycle rental. The Embarcadero is a convenient bike ride, especially due to the fact that it is all flat and there are less traffic worries than other areas of the city. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the comfort and décor of your room—you will have to try a waterfront room on your next stay! For other great views in the city, some popular attractions include Ghirardelli Square, Twin Peaks, Coit Tower and the Marin Headlands.

Excellent hotel in regards to the rooms and location but I do think it is over priced and that the breakfast should be either included as a guest or at least discounted, although I would have to say the breakfast selection was great and plenty of health options. The room was lovely. Access to use computers was really handy. Really good front desk - very helpful. Excellent location for all the sights and piers

It is excellent to hear that you enjoyed our proximity to the bay and piers; it really is a great area to take a walk and enjoy the sights. I am glad that the front desk was able to assist you with your needs; it is always flattering to specifically recognize staff members. The breakfast from Americano does have an excellent selection and everything is organic and delicious. Many of our ingredients come directly from the Ferry Building vendors and the menu is seasonally inspired.

I meant to review this hotel a long time ago. The hotel is modern, clean, and has a hip feel. It is not cheap but it's hard to think you can get that type of value anywhere else. It is in an incredible location right next to Ferry Building and farmers' market, which you could probably spend a whole day at. Easy walk to everything and beautiful view of the Bay Bridge. Chinatown and museum and other sightseeing is a short stroll away. I think one of the funniest experiences we've had is when we asked the concierge about a few restaurant locations and we kept getting a response with the location but also that we should "load the map to our ipad," even though at the time the ipad had been available for like two months maybe at most. Not sure about the hotel's amenities because we didn't use any really, but the room service was one of the best I've ever had. The bar was happening at night although it's very close to a lot of other streets with tons of great bars and food. Pretty much no complaints about this place, would definitely stay again when go back.

We do pride ourselves on the décor, ambiance and location, so it is always good to hear that guests are appreciating the same qualities. Our central location makes for walking to landmarks quite effortless; many guests also rent bikes from a nearby vendor for a unique transportation experience. I am glad that you were able to take advantage of our room service; it comes directly from the Americano restaurant, so the food is just as amazing.

I have probably reviewed this hotel before, but want to write another rave after my stay last night. My favorite part of San Francisco is the waterfront, and to me Hotel Vitale is a just about perfect place to stay there. The location of Hotel Vitale is wonderful, directly across the street from the Ferry Building and farmers' market there with lots of great restaurants and the Embarcadero shopping areas close by, a long but beautiful walk to AT&T, and with wonderful views of the Bay, Treasure Island and Bay Bridge from the waterfront rooms (which are pretty much to die for). The rooms are exceptionally tranquil, Zen-like, and comfortable, with all types of lovely comforts and the staff is all polite and friendly. Despite being located on a busy avenue, the soundproofing makes the rooms very quiet. I live only 30 miles away, but come here for a weekend several times a year and they are always highlights. My only little complaint is the lack of a coffeemaker in the room but I understand that there are probably risks to them that make it unsafe or something. There is prompt room service and very good coffee in the lobby. The hotel has a spa but I have not used it.

Room Tip: If you can splurge on a waterfront room, do it--the view itself at night is worth the price. I'...

The waterfront location does have so much to offer and we are lucky to be within walking distance to the ballpark. I am glad to hear that you are such a loyal Bay Area guest. If you were not previously aware, we do currently have a Bay Area Resident Offer on our website, so be sure to utilize it on your next stay. As you mentioned, we do have Equator Coffees and Teas (roasted locally in San Rafael) in the lobby and you are always welcome to request a coffee maker from the front desk as well.

The hotel and service are very good. Also the location is excellent. The only negative about our stay, because we had one of the rooms facing the side street, Steurt I believe, was that at night time you had buses idling right under our window and across the street. The noise was annoying. Not the hotel's fault nut something to take note of. Also as a tip right across the street is an office building so keeps the curtains closed because they can see right into the room.

We are all so lucky to be near the Ferry Building and all the culinary delights it has to offer. The Farmer’s Market actually happens three times a week! I am sorry to hear that the towels did not meet your expectations; we will look into the situation. Our restaurant’s menu does vary with the seasons, so I hope you will give us another chance to impress you with Americano during your next stay.

Stayed one night in Hotel Vitale at the end of a business trip in the US. Arrived at 9 pm at night and the check-in took all of 3 minutes - extremely friendly and efficient! The hotel room was clean, with crisp white sheets. Felt more like a suite than a hotel room, which I really appreciated. Good ambient lighting in-room.

Hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the Epic Roasthouse, which serves pretty amazing steaks and wines, but I digress.

Breakfast was served in the ground floor restaurant. Service was prompt and efficient, and the banana pancakes with pecan butter brings back truly fond memories of this stay. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again if I return to SFO

We do have a great deal of business guests and I’m happy to hear that your company chose Hotel Vitale so that you were able to experience everything we have to offer. The breakfast in Americano is not something to be skipped, and the banana pancakes are always a good choice. If you do return to the Bay Area, we encourage spending more time in San Francisco to experience everything this great city has to offer.
