“Very good HK style food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

We ordered Hong Kong milk tea, rice porridge, won ton noodles, Chinese broccoli, and pork cutlet with rice. The last dish we invented. My husband described to the waiter what we were looking for and they made it to his specifications. Our food was really good. My husband has eaten here many times over the past few years and makes it a point to call out the "best won ton noodles" every time we pass it. We had good service - very good. Consider that we asked for something off menu and they were kind enough to put it together for us. One thing I should add - my husband speaks Cantonese - that may make a difference in the level of service? Maybe?
The one thing I would stay away from is the bathroom! As soon as I opened the door the smell of urine (like bad subway/bart urine) hit me like a ton of bricks! So gross. So so gross- someone named "crafty" left a graffiti message calling it out as a "stanky*** bathroom" Crafty, you are spot on!
Eat there - skip the bathroom visit.

“Authentic Asian menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The locals in Chinatown recommended this restaurant, twice. Beware, they said it was on Justin; however, it was on Jackson. All locals go there and authentic menu with lots of unusual choices. We had the seafood fried rice and roasted duck and brisket. Pretty good.

“Poor service, poor food”

Food was as bad as their service. Would not recommend this place to nobody. There are lots of way better options around there!

“Bad service but huge variety”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

Traditional Hong Kong Cafe. As expected, the service is not good (unless you eat there often and know the people). But, there is a huge variety to choose from. From soup noodles, rice, pasta, sandwiches and steaks there's bound to be something to your taste. They open early to quite late.

The portions can be massive. I got the baked pork chop and tomato rice that came with soup. The dish was enough for two people.

They also do breakfast - western hot breakfast, congee, noodle soup. Some come with bread and tea.

Definitely good value.

“Very rude... no service at all”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2011

Our family has been going to ABC on Noriega Street for a long time (sometimes we'd go to the one in Chinatown) even though both places are known to have very bad service, but we like the variety food selection so we always think it will be better next time (wishful thinking). On July 10th, my family went there for lunch just as usual. They got there and waited a very long time even though the workers saw them, but no one tried to seat them just like every time we were there. They later noticed there were some empty tables and they seated themselves as usual (there is no sign indicating to wait to be seated). After they sat down, they waited a very long time and still no one came to take their order. They waved for the waitress, but another waitress w/short hair and named Ching (name translated to English), started to yell at my family saying that not to take their order, they need to get out and wait to be seated because the table is for 6 and they are only 3 people... My family was completely embarrassed and was so irritated by being treated w/no respect. It was not the first time that the same waitress treated them w/such bad manners so they left... We've decided not to go to ABC Bakery Cafe anymore because of this continued bad service. We have been going to ABC for a very long time and have been giving them lot of business and chances to see the improvement... We are soooooo disappointed!
