As we walked from the Ferry building to A t & T park looking for a place where my husband could have a burger and I could indulge in seafood, we happened upon Delancey Street. What a wonderful find! From the second the charming hostess greeted us and happily fulfilled my request fro a booth, we were treated like royalty. The view of the bay is relaxing and a white table cloth and fresh flowers always make a meal a little more special. My husband selected a burger with avocado and bacon and I opted for the carb cakes with mango salsa and black bean relish. My meal was plated brilliantly and tasted even better than it looked! My husband was at first surprised to find his burger was not 100% beef. However, after two bites he remarked that if it have been all beef it would nave been too rich a meal. He finished every bite and had me sample the delicious spicy fries. When our waiter learned it was my birthday, my chocolate orange crème Brule arrived with a candle and a handsome group of nine waiters sang "Happy Birthday." This is but one example of how caring the wait staff is. At another table, a waiter playfully photo bombed an elderly ladies' photo. Still another waiter calmed and entertained two young sibling. Perhaps those who have seen the darkest of days know how to savor the joy in each moment. dinner, dessert, and drinks came to under $45 which is unheard of for an elegant meal in the city. I highly recommend Delancey Street and commend both their program and the people it services. For more on their mission, see the back of their menu. There are also rooms available for large groups or parties.
